We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cory R a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cory, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Well… Most of the things I’ve learned I somewhat taught myself. From falling a thousand times while back flipping to doing certain dance moves wrong, or even singing the wrong note. From that to being guided by amazing musical directors and dance teachers on my journey. It all comes with the learning process you have to fail and try again to become better. One of the best skills I’ve learned from the experience is patience and to always FEEL. The only thing that can stand in your way is you don’t let go of the things you love.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a giving person that’s what helped Riverside grow and helps us stand out. I got into to music at the age of 10 when I first heard Michael Jackson and watched how he performed and it wasn’t because he wanted to be popular he performed that way because he loved music and how it brings people together and I wanted the same thing for my music and brand, I wanted to paint my own picture and create a family’s crest of my own. I’m very proud that this brand can really be something that everyone can look forward to.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes of course as far as books, Stephen Kings “It” novel and “Sleepwalkers” film was very impactful in my childhood even now as an adult. On the darker side of things I really love Halloween, Hellraiser and Candyman the cinematography is what made me want to direct videos from multiple perspectives. It made me be comfortable as far as being a villain or “bad guy” in my future music videos.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I actually just heard about these….. I think they are cool and a new way for new artist to spread their material it’s a new world especially when creating new things that can be sold I’m just confused on how to go about it I’m not in that world….. As of now maybe in the future but I do know it helps you financially support your favorite artist so that a plus.
