Cory, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
J&M Jewelry is one of the companies that I own and we only sell genuine earth mined diamonds and we do not sell lab diamonds. The lab diamonds have become very popular over the last 10 years and the majority of businesses in the jewelry industry started to sell them. J&M Jewelry decided a long time ago that we would only sell genuine earth mined diamonds because we know that is the best option for the customer to have real value. Not only do we only sell genuine diamonds but we are very honest and transparent about the differences between the 2 options. This practice is far from the industry standard and we are proud to earn our customers trust and repeat business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Cory Moore and I am 39 years old. I have been a serial entrepreneur and business owner since I was in college attending Texas State University in San Marcos Texas. I have started and developed multiple companies in a variety of industries and my primary role is the CEO of J&M Jewelry. We specialize in genuine diamond and gemstone jewelry, custom jewelry, and fine jewelry. I am also the co-Founder of VividEFX which is a technology firm and I am the co-Founder of SentialGem® which is a beauty line. I believe in treating customers with respect and providing them with quality products and services at an affordable price. As an entrepreneur of almost 20 years I can tell you I am more motivated than ever to grow our brands to the next phases. I can tell you straight from the horse’s mouth, we are just getting started.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I was building and managing the health & wellness company I started in college I was building J&M Jewelry in the background. Every year we were getting more revenue and more customers. Around 2011 I decided to step away completely from that business and make J&M Jewelry my main focus. It worked out well because many of the customers we had from the health & wellness company became customers of J&M Jewelry. We contributed a lot of this to our awesome clients that wanted to support me. Honestly, I truly mean that so if any of our long term clients are reading this, thank you. The other reasons are due to the fact that we stayed focused on providing a high quality product and good customer service. People are attracted to that. The pivot from one business to another took time and I knew it was a process going into it. I made sure J&M Jewelry was in a strong position before I made the decision to step away from the other company.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
SentialGem® is a new beauty line I am involved in. It’s an all natural product that contains aquamarine gemstones along with many other gemstones and minerals from the mountains of Colorado. These ingredients are cleaned and processed into a pharmaceutical grade micro powder that can be used seperately or added to your favorite beauty products like moisturizers and other things. I met my business partner Dawn Del Russo about 5 years ago while participating in a photoshoot in SoHo Manhattan. Dawn was involved in the styling of the shoot and I was there providing jewelry from J&M Jewelry. We kept in contact throughout the years and I knew Dawn had been involved in the beauty and fashion industries her entire career.
