Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cory McCaskey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cory, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is simple- “Do the Right Things for the Right Reasons, At All Times and Without Exception.” I let my morals and values be my navigation and my faith is my compass. Foundationally, this allows me to be ethically driven within every transaction to ensure that together, we reach the desired outcome. While always trying to remain laser focused on the clients specific needs and overall vision for their future.
The ultimate goal is to create a level service so disruptive to the industry that it can’t be copied because no one else is willing to do what we will do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I had a motorcycle accident that resulted in me breaking 5 vertebrae in my neck, collapsing both lungs, fracturing my skull and spending a month in a coma. After the accident, it took me about a year to be able to walk and recover enough to be independent again. During all of that, I had a lot of time to think about everything. It made me evaluate the meaning of life and what’s truly important. The best lesson that I probably learned was that life is too short to not capitalize on every opportunity to create a memory. Now, I do that within my businesses every day. I start every morning off with the thought of “Who can I help today?”. That’s what I feel separates me the most is that the average agent is just chasing a paycheck and knows nothing about how to help a client through hardships. Sometimes, people need more than just a standard agent can give them. It seems that this has become the new fad due to perception portrayed on social media in the recent past and it’s become the “new beauty school.” The general public needs to know that 80% of real estate agents fail and are out of business within 36 months. This is important and it matters. Who you choose to represent you matters. Knowledge and Experience matter !! You wouldn’t want to be on a flight that the pilot just got licensed and has never actually flown for real. You wouldn’t want a surgeon to operate on you that only does a few surgeries a year as a hobby, would you? Now, you may think that’s an extreme example but I have seen people lose so much money , time and freedom from poor choices that could have been avoided. I coach agents and have for several years and one of the main reasons I do it is because it’s scary to see how little some agents know. That is why more and more regulations are being introduced daily.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
You mean a “normal day” for an entrepreneur? Lol- Honestly, this is something that every business owner is going to experience at some point. Nothing worth having comes easy and although real estate has gained a ton of popularity over recent years, this business is not easy and it’s not for everyone. There have been more times than I can count where I’ve had to get extremely creative to pay bills or cover marketing costs etc. Especially, if you are brand new or just getting started. Money goes out every month for expenses but revenue doesn’t always come in at the same pace. You have to get very good and budgeting and making sacrifices. Somethings will have to be given up in order to make room for what’s important. Just know that weathering the storm is necessary and the better you get at it the more prepared you will be the next time one hits.
If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
I guess you can say that. After a few years in the business I started to realize that not every transaction is a joyous occasion. A lot of folks were going through hardships such as loss of job, or losing a loved one, some were going through a divorce or fighting a disease or serious illness. My traditional real estate education did not prepare me for all of that. So, I started learning all I could about how to fight tax liens and foreclosures so that I could better serve & advise my clients which lead me organically into real estate investing, which later became its own business, (Opulent Properties – www.igottasellmyhouse.com) Then after seeing our before and after work across several communities we started getting requests to do side jobs and remodels to the point where eventually to keep up with demand, I had to start a general contracting and remodeling business. (The Rehab Ninjas- www.rehabninjas.com) I think that any business has the opportunity to grow organically and create additional revenue streams if we simply listen to the people we serve. People will tell you what they want. The question just becomes- Are you going to be the ne to provide it? Because if you don’t, someone else will.
