Hi Cortney, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

C.A. Vision media has a mission to challenge and inspire people to see the vision of every single production we film and our heart behind each production. We desire for people to see beyond what the screen is showing and dig into the true inspiration behind it as well as assist with everyday creatives to make their visions and ideas come to life.

As a creative production company we truly want people to capture what we create, the impact it has on them and show how important it is for every single person to tell their story because everyone’s story holds so much power. We are a production and film company that story-tells through films, documentaries, music videos and positive, purpose filled media. This is a media company where culture, purpose, inspiration, and making a vision come alive is combined. We desire to let people know that each person’s story has value and sharing their story in any capacity breaks down barriers.

As a production company looking to empower other creatives in their craft we also offer video editing for videos under 15 mins.
Promo editing, music video editing, etc.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a producer and a filmmaker passionate about telling visual stories and helping other creatives thrive in the media industry. I have been in the TV industry as a producer and director for 10 years and have been in the filmmaking scene for about two years now. My passion for TV & film production started at the tender age of 9 years old at Odenton Elementary School in Odenton, MD as the anchor for our on-camera school announcements (which opened my world of tv production) and always looking forward to recording family memories as a child, the combination of the two grew into now producing and directing inspirational entertainment. My love and passion for production and the impact of telling stories kept me going and even though the production industry is very competitive and tough I knew this was my God given purpose so I never allowed my discouraging times to stop me. With my bubbly personality that is bright as my smile, I love to connect and commune with so many different people which fuels my spirit for storytelling.

In December of 2020, I became the CEO of my own production company; C.A. Vision Media where we create our own impactful content through films, documentaries, and shows and we also offer video services to empower other creatives which include:

Videography for commercials & music videos
Work as a Producer and Director on your project or film (bring the vision to life)
Assist with crafting an idea for a show or film
Work as an Interviewer for your show or podcast

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One lesson I had to unlearn early on was to not to sell myself short with my prices of my services. I am one who loves to help everyone and realized not many funds were going into my business because I was not properly establishing a fair price point. When I first started my business I chose to lower my prices of services and I came across someone who was willing to pay a lot more for my editing and video services becasue she told me I was not properly getting paid what I deserved for my talents. I’ll never forget what she said, she told me “Your gifts, talents and hardwork do not go unnoticed, people know you are gifted and see your diligence, make sure you continue to believe it and get paid what you are worth.”

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The best source of new clients have been at networking events and festivals. I have a bubbly personality that can strike conversation with anyone which helps me to lead in with my business and what I love about it as well as them telling me about their business and it gives room for collaboration and future work.
