We were lucky to catch up with Cortney Hendrix recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cortney , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Going part time at my job to pursue my goals. I really and truly believe that God will make you so uncomfortable to move you. I’m always uncomfortable and now I know that in this year it’s time for me to move. I call it divine direction. People will see you as being extraordinary, not knowing what you have is actually extraordinary backing of God. When you can picture the vision that is waiting for you to have so much faith and to execute it with divine direction. The goal in this year is to move forward and to walk in action. No more looking back…..It’s time!!!…
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a Licensed Esthetician, Wax Technician, and Makeup Artist. I feel like I do it all even had to slow down on makeup to focus on waxing. I went from threading eyebrows, to doing makeup, facials, weddings, and now waxing. It also taking me a minute to grow clientele. You have to be your number 1 priority when it comes to marketing yourself. I stayed promoting whatever service that I did. Not only that but when your clients love you so much, they promote you as well. Clients become friends that you will always appreciate. I’m always getting new clients especially with waxing. Now in this year I’m ready to get back into doing facials and makeup. Over the time I have learned that you can’t satisfy everyone in the Esthetic world. But appreciate the clients that appreciate you back. What sets me apart from others is I know my gift is also my Ministry. It’s so simple to call me a Licensed Esthetician but to my clients I am more. I’ve cried with my clients and also prayed with clients. Sometimes it gets deeper then just coming to get waxed, a facial, or your makeup done. I’m super excited about what I’m working on in this year. I have a lot to show and I can’t wait to get it all done. I’m almost at this finish line. So I’m proud of accomplishing my goals that I’ve been working on for 2 years now.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my Husband Wesley Hendrix. I love him very much, he’s so supportive of me. I met my Husband in 2010, we used to work at a pizza buffet restaurant. We was both in college and just figuring out life. I feel like in your twenties you’re learning about yourself. I met him when I first moved to Statesboro, Georgia. I had a friend who was telling me about Wesley. We went out on our first date and been together ever since. I love the fact that he also promotes me on his job. So together dream work make the team work.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Got in Esthetician School and found out we was expecting. My emotions was everywhere. So I went to esthetic school full time and I worked full time. I will went to esthetic school from 7:30am-2:10pm. Leave from school to go to work from 2:20pm-10:00pm at night. I did it while I was pregnant the whole entire time. Our son Nicholas, He graduated with me in my stomach. I looked back at that and thank God for His grace and mercy upon my life. Sometimes I still can’t believe that I did all of it while being pregnant….But God!
