Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Corrina Hubbard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Corrina, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
YouTube!
Praise God for the Internet. I might’ve search for tutorials on how to paint sneakers for 2 years before actually trying it out myself.
I wish instead of waiting 2 years to learn the craft I just jumped right and learned from my mistakes. I would’ve have gotten better quicker instead of the fear of failing. Plus, failing was expensive because my mom wouldn’t want me to mess up the shoes they worked so hard to get for me.
The skills that were most essential are creativity and prep work. Yes it’s cool to copy designer brands but after a while, you’d want to have your own style people are drawn to. Plus once you make your design, you don’t want it ruined after a few starts wears.

Corrina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an artist who loves sneakers, and by combining both passions, I created Classified Creations by Corrina. I customize all types of sneakers and shoes. My journey started in college, customizing street sneakers, and has since expanded into the wrestling industry. It’s been incredible to see how different designs come to life depending on the type of footwear.
I primarily use leather paint and leather to create one-of-a-kind custom designs that are both eye-catching and durable. In a world where so many people follow trends, I wanted to create something that sets me apart—and in doing so, I attract people who want to stand out, too.
I hope future clients and fans can see the authenticity in everything I create. I want to be transparent about both my wins and my failures because I never want to forget where I started (as cliché as that may sound). More than anything, I hope to inspire other creatives and business owners to chase their dreams. I never imagined my art would go beyond my own space, yet now, people from all over message me on Instagram for designs. It’s truly a blessing.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I don’t know if this is a resource vs. a piece of advance. I feel like a broken record because I say this a lot, but I wish I was encouraged to fail more. This might sound crazy, but if I wasn’t so afraid of messing up or ruining a pair of shoes, I don’t think I would’ve spent so much time, thinking about an idea instead of actually creating the idea.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, it’s seeing the designs come to life. I tend to have lots of ideas and so much vision, but it takes me a while to actually commit to a design or follow through. However, after the hours of labor and seeing the finished shoe, it encourages me to start another design.
It’s so satisfying when I spray the final coat and lace up the shoes… that’s when I know its complete!
