Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Corinne Fenn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Corinne, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I am passionate about helping women find confidence and fall in love with their hair by learning how to manage it and feel good about themselves.
Growing up, I had super curly hair and back then products and styling tools were not what they are today. I always had such a difficult time anyone tried taming and styling my hair, which left me to figure it out on my own. Throughout the years, with ever changing hair styles, tools, and products, I have learned what really works and what doesn’t, and found a love of sharing that with other women.

Corinne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been lucky enough to be behind the chair for 13 years. I worked in a traditional salon setting for 7 years, and in 2017 opened my own salon suite- Fringe Hair Salon in Charlotte, NC.
Over the years, I have really found my niche and honed in on my craft. I specialize in custom color and cuts that fits into each clients lifestyle while taking into account their personal hair wants and needs.
I have the privilege every day of going to work and truly enjoying my day and servicing my clients. Hair stylists can be unapologetically who they are and I really encourage my clients to do the same. If you are having a bad day and need to vent, I’m here. If you need a shoulder to cry on, I’m here. If you have good news you want to shout from the rooftops, I’m here.
I love for my clients to have fun and feel like they are catching up with a close girlfriend. That connection is what’s important to me. Walking out the door with fabulous hair is just a perk!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy growing a business will always be referrals! Yes, you will get clients through social media, but your most loyal clients who stand by you through the years will be through referrals. When you provide an excellent service and experience, your client will share you with everyone they know so they can experience the same. Chances are if you truly love that client, you will love their referral as well.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think anyone who owned a small business during Covid and made it out on the other side, can be described as resilient.
When you own a business throughout the years, you go through many life stages and challenges that cause you to pivot and transition from your original plan. I think being flexible and reworking your vision to accommodate these changes for your business is the definition of resilience.
But through all the ebbs and flows of being a business owner, it’s worth it.
