Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Corina Intriago. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Corina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Since I was a child I felt blessed and very lucky, because although I was born in a low-income family, I always had the means to climb towards my goals. I always found people who made it possible for me to make my projects happen.
By the age of 10, I was a girl awarded a scholarship by the Mayor of my town, since then I dreamed about building my own house. A beautiful house that would meet my expectations and that I would have a profession that I would feel passionate about and fill me in body and soul. I desired to be free of my time and dedicate myself to something I loved, I wanted to become a mother and have a family, and not miss a single soccer game of my son, while I dreamed and imagined my adult life, I studied everything I could, without a meaning or an established path, I was an avid reader, I was interested in all areas, I was researching professional careers and I wasn’t very clear about what my profession would be, but I learned about all of them.
When I was a teenagaer one of my brothers passed away and my family was fractured, only my mother, my dreams and I were left. My mother was a fundamental piece in my perseverance, the motivation of knowing that she believed in me, that she dreamed my dreams, that she was proud of my achievements.
I started working in management positions, grateful for my experience in many areas it didn’t take too long before I became an expert in business, my passion for sales led me to work with Alex Dey, a renowned international speaker, who today is my business partner and together we founded ALEX DEY MASTERMIND. And while my wealth grew, the educational need of my son Álvaro was born, who by then I had discovered that he was a gifted child, and needed an education of academic excellence, I looked for schools and found no options, far from the reality of my childhood, now my resources were enough to pay for the best schools, but the best schools turned out that they could not adapt to the specific needs of my son, so I found a wonderful curricular program, I contacted them, José De la Fuente guided me, I explained my case and he explained to me that this program was designed for schools, that’s where the idea was born, “I’ll create a school for my son, I told myself” and the adventure of founding MATI TALENT INSTITUTE PRIVATE SCHOOL began. It’s easy to sum up but it was a great investment of time, money and effort. Search for the best resources and make digital tools more efficient, make the corresponding legal records and accreditations, an online school that would allow any student from Kindergarten to High School to have the right to study at their own pace, on their own time and with a curriculum of excellent quality.
My childhood dreams have come true, I live in the house of my dreams, I have the job that I wanted and that I passionately love in body and soul, but none of this would have been possible if I had not received the kindest thing that someone could do for me, believe that I could do it.
Just as the Mayor trusted that 10-year-old girl, just as my mother trusted her daughter, just as José de la Fuente believed in my enthusiasm and guided me at all times with kindness and interest in my project. Today, I look back and I believe that our thousands of families around the world give us a bit of that confidence that is the incentive that keeps us permanently in the tireless search for continuous improvement.
As a person and as a team, I have learned the importance of believing in our dreams, but above all, believing that it is possible to achieve them and accepting the blessing of allowing ourselves to help others and to receive help from others.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born in Mexico and I currently live in Miami, Florida. I have Marketing and Accounting background, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would become an online distance education pioneer and founder and director of Mati Talent Institute Private School, founded in Florida in 2014, today considered one of the best international private schools. What began as a simple act of love for her son Alvaro, has grown over the last seven years into a full time bilingual online school that receives over 7,000 K-12 students from all around the world including México, Holland, Canada, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, Finland, Indonesia, Peru, Russia, Oman and Qatar. All of my success is thanks to my son Alvaro, he inspired my vision to create Mati Talent Institute.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As I look back on the path I walked to create what Mati has become today, I can remember the struggles, all those sleepless nights, depression and making the decision to risk everything I had knowing that it was what I had to do for my son. I am very proud of what I have accomplished but it is my 8 year old son Alvaro who deserves the credit for inspiring me with the mission, the vision and the decisiveness to create Mati Talent Institute. Before Alvarito arrived in my life I knew I had the potential but not the direction. He has taught me patience, he brought calmness to my life. I see myself as his facilitator, guiding him in his path of self-learning.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
