We recently connected with Corina Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Corina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is defined by whatever you believe is a success story for yourself, which I highly support, without the small steps within your big goal there wouldn’t be a process to learn from. Therefore each step I have taken towards my accomplishment has helped me along the way for example, late night planning your schedule to keep you on track of the classes, practicing in different times of the day, or even taking the bus to different parts of the city to teach. These are examples of the small steps that do have a huge factor within my accomplishments, those steps lead me to become a better teacher and have the ability to give my students the confidence and motivation to keep dancing. That it is okay to fail, but also setting the example of getting back up and trying again is success to me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello everyone, my name is Corina short for Cori, I am the proud business owner of coris school of dance. I teach 1950’s rock n’ roll jive in North Hollywood CA, which is located in the San Fernando Valley. I first started jiving at the age of 18, at venues, vintage sale events, and rockabilly shows, from there on I just fell in love with dancing. Throughout the years, I never considered of teaching dance as a career, but have always hoped to have a career in something creative.
At first I began to teach at shows once in a blue moon to people’s backyard, to some rockabilly events and I loved the feeling I got after just seeing how excited people got once the moves were taught and just danced the night away. In the year 2018 my best friend pushed me to just go for it and make a post on social media, I was not to sure to teach yet until one of my first students saw me at my previous job, suggested I teach classes, instantly I thought that was a sign to teach. These last few years have been full of up and downs of joy, tears, giving up to being fully motivated, but it has given me the best memories with my students in the class. To witnessing friendships formed to people’s confidence developing, to me it has been the most rewarding part of my journey.
All the adventures I have endured, to interviewing on the radio, hosting a park event, music videos, to assisting the number one jive teacher in Las Vegas. I have learned how to teach dances outside the box and problem solve at events or gatherings. I believe one day I will have that studio to help people just enjoy the art of dance.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is today’s way of making your business grow, it was quite difficult at first to keep the creativity of my content going, but within time the art of creating unique videos has been an enjoyable learning experience. The simplest video reel on instagram has helped me built more audiences on my page, also people who have taken my classes a simple recommendation from that person has gotten me into amazing events and travel experiences. The word of advice is just keep promoting yourself on your platform, by making videos, speaking to your audiences, making live videos, or a tik -toks. Keep going no matter what and stay true to yourself, and I promise people will gravitate towards you.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for new clients is through my instagram, which is Coris_schoolofdance and my dance email. But mostly on my social media that is how many people reach out to me.
