Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Corey Vejar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Corey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My Debut Album: ‘Hypnotopia’ holds a special place in my heart.
I first started this album when I was just beginning my journey as an electronic artist. At this time, I was naive and eager. Not only to create this body of work but to turn my dreams into reality.
The inspiration behind this album was sourced from naivety at the start of this creative journey. The purpose of this work was to embody the feeling of diving into something new and to serve as a reminder that your dreams aren’t far from reality. It’s nothing but an awakening moment.
I first came up with this concept through my research of Hypnopompia (also known as the Hypnopomic state). In brief: this is the state of consciousness leading out of sleep. During this gray area of going from sleepfulness to awakening; dreams and reality often blur together as you are coming to your senses.
This was the place I was at in my life when writing this body of work. I was navigating through a lot of my faults and trying to discover my life’s purpose while also battling with the imposter syndrome and feeling of being misunderstood as an artist. However, my dreams were big and my eyes were wide open. I deeply believe in my artistic process and vision of this project. Through this resilience ‘Hypnotopia’ came to life.
This album is a sonic journey that takes you through the emotional journey of pursuing and achieving your dreams. The pursuit of happiness is a challenging path we are all on. This body of work was created to embrace this pursuit.
Each song in the album mixes together to tell a different chapter in the story of overcoming the obstacles you navigate that comes with trying to create the life you desire. This story serves as a reminder to never give up on your dreams, as they are all but just an awakening moment.
There is a lot more in the works for my artist project, however “Hypnotopia’ will forever be a part of my life and serve as a reminder to keep pushing forward. I believe my light will shine through and I hope that I can do my part to help people heal and believe they are worthy of the life they desire. My message is to live life to the fullest and allow yourself the happiness you deserve. Life is short, so make every moment count.

Corey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello All,
My name is Corey Wayne Vejar and I am an Electronic Musician / Artist based in Southern California.
Being born and raised in SoCal has allowed me to explore many of the vast landscapes/scenery that California has to offer. Ever since I was a child, I would go on camping trips with family and friends. From riding bikes to hiking trails, swimming in the ocean to the sunsets and sunrises in the desert… I was infatuated by the views and experiences through exploration.
This feeling hasn’t left me to this day.
My main source of inspiration is what Mother Nature has to offer us. The beauty. The chaos. The state of being.
The ‘SNSES’ project was created to encapsulate and embody the human experience.
We live in a world where everything moves fast. Especially in LA… Where social life is thriving, the nightlife is intoxicating, where we seek our identities. In this age of information we live in, life can feel like it’s flying by us at light speed. And if you don’t try to stop and take it in… you might miss the finer details.
We are all living our own unique human experience. We are all on our own individual journeys, navigating through this crazy world we call home. Embrace it. The beauty, the ugly, all of life’s blessings and imperfections.
This is the core inspiration behind this project. My mission is to help people heal and embrace their life through introspection by creating these sonic experiences. To inspire people to get out there and explore. To go and embrace their inner child. There is a whole world out there for you. So go and live your life to the fullest. Whatever may come your way, let it be, and stay true to your journey.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My resilience still shines through to this day.
In my life as an artist, I am consistently combating the feelings of self-doubt, and the what-ifs that come throughout this creative journey.
There is a constant internal dialogue that is cycling through my mind. At times it’s like a game of tug of war between my emotions and ideas. Navigating through this will always be the most challenging part of being an artist for me.
I’ve found that the key to getting through this toxic cycle is to practice remaining present. To allow yourself some grace and get out of your own way. Getting through these internal conflicts is half the battle in moving forward as an artist and human being.
I find that once I set myself free of this emotional purgatory. Setting a course of action and attacking these creative endeavors becomes much more clear. My intentions with my work begin to spill out of me and it feels effortless. It’s a sweet release to channel these intense feelings and put them into a creative medium. There is no other feeling in the world that matches that of being in the flow state and transcribing my thoughts into a tangible reality.
This feeling was there when I first started pursuing my creative endeavors and stays with me to this day. Artists are considered delusional. We believe in our visions regardless of it not being real yet. Hence why we create.
Being able to go through these battles and create something you believe in is incredibly resilient. And I will continue this pursuit as it is my life’s purpose.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The Freedom of Self-Expression
The gears are always running in my head. It’s a gift and curse to have the ability to take in so many details all at once. These details lead into many thoughts (the good and bad). However, this all becomes fuel for providing creative direction to express myself in ways words cannot.
This is the job of the artist. To provide an alternate perspective for those who may (or may not) resonate as you do. To provoke thought for some and fabricate another world to provide a safe haven for others.
For me, possessing the ability to take emotion, perspective, and fantasy and put it into artistic mediums is the ultimate release. As an over-thinker, this is my self-therapy. Through this release, I cannot help but share my creations with others to provide insight. My work all stems from my genuine being. This is the foundation of my sonic and artistic palette.
I do find inspiration from other musical sources. Some of my primary inspirations are ODESZA, Tycho, Bonobo, Pink Floyd, and Incubus (among many others). However, I always let what I’m feeling lead the way. I cannot help but let my thoughts and emotions flow out of me and naturally into my work.
The freedom of self expression is the most satisfying part of being an artist. And it is also the reason why I will always continue to create throughout my life.
I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I do believe it is bright.
