We recently connected with Corey Penelton and have shared our conversation below.
Corey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment that I made would be getting my own studio. I was dealing with some issues with one of my engineers and decided that I wasn’t gonna let anybody play me for my time anymore so I went ahead and invested into my own studio and got one of my other engineers to teach me how to record myself. Every time I will go to the studio I will sit there and watch instead of just recording. I would ask questions and show interest of other things other than rapping into the mic.I want to be able to produce the music.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I grew up I always had a taste for music. I started in band in middle school and for some reason just always had a good ear for it but i never thought that i would start to rap. Back then i couldn’t even freestyle, but as i got older and learned the ropes process of making music it had become my passion and i want to take it as far as my limit will take me and then I’m gonna break that limit!
I think the thing that sets me apart from others is my work effort when I actually put in the hard work. The thing I’m the most proud about is finding something that actually means something to me and I want to tell my fans to follow their dreams. Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Networking with new people.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
How much money you have to put into yourself in the beginning. You got to keep putting money in yourself even though it might not work everytime.
