Corey, appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?

Becoming a business owner is something I always aspired to do, but unfortunately had never built up the courage to follow through and actually do it. After a few months of with my current employer, I had truly come to terms with tomorrow is truly not promised for anyone. I had lost my older brother, Justin a.k.a. Catfish and also lost my older cousin Russell who had a tremendous influence on us and the importance of family. I had always been my parents’ favorite cleaner due to the attention to detail combined with my OCD. This of course ended up resulting in a healthy and therapeutic love for cleaning. I have never been more passionate about a venture as I am with Renaissance Cleaning Service LLC and the absolute endless potential there is for us to become Raleigh & the surrounding areas #1 cleaning service!

How did you build your audience on social media?

I absolutely had to start from the bottom, from creating an Instagram, Facebook and website with VistaPrint. Its been a struggle to continue to remain resilient, but that slowly became one of the most gratifying parts of building a business. You have to overcome not getting the bites that you’re expecting just starting off. You most definitely have to be persistent and remain confident in yourself and your business. It will absolutely payoff in the end!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

I hands down had to “unlearn” that I am not the best cleaner in the world! As funny as that sounds, I had to become receptive to criticism and remember “The customer is always right!” Its very important to keep your clientele satisfied and to respect and be receptive to any suggestions or things that may have been overlooked while completing a job. Keeping a great repour with your company’s clientele is the absolute #1 thing to do to guarantee success.
