We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Corey Frazier. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Corey below.
Corey, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Our story is simple, but also very unique. Our foundation is centered around helping people. My wife and I were tutoring well before we started our business. She was tutoring for a franchise company, while I was tutoring for free. Literacy was and still is a high need for many people. We just wanted to do our part in serving others, but we absolutely have a passion to tutor. Well, after a few years, my wife confronted me one day and informed me that instead of providing free tutoring to “everybody” let’s make it a business. She later had a dream and came up with the name EZ as Pi Tutoring Service. I “loved it.” It was simple, but catchy to the ear. I later got with my long time friend Vantrell Manior and shared with him our vision. Later, he went on to create our very first logo. The rest is history.

Corey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My wife and I believe strongly in the Lord Jesus Christ. We simply want to serve others. We have been given a lane to operate our tutoring services in helping hundreds of children and adults. Our tutoring services have helped so many families over the almost 8 years of being in existence. We have also been able to duplicate ourselves by transforming into a now 35 plus person team. We have recruited several like-minded young and seasoned individuals to join our team over the years. This has allowed us to become more widespread and versatile with providing more opportunities to serve others in various states. What sets us apart from others I believe is our overall commitment to excellence while serving others. We take our tutoring services very seriously and want to provide the absolute best experience possible for our families. We handle with care, take our time, practice patience, cheer and root our clients, provide consistent feedback, and always check for progress from our parents. What sets us apart as well is our versatility when it comes to the amount of services we offer. Our services include assistance with Math (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus & Calculus; Biology; English, ELA, SAT, ACT, ASVAB prep. We are most proud of the consistent and constant results we hear from our parents. Their testimonies are like our vitamins. It’s not only the testimonies regarding children increasing with their academic subjects, but also testimonies such as “my child is more responsible now; he has a better attitude; we are communicating better and we thank your service so much; my child loves her/his tutor, and my child is more confident now.” We want people to know that we take pride in our tutoring services. There is a special bond that takes place with most of our tutors and the families they serve. After all, Tutoring is relational.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When we first started tutoring together (my wife and I), it was challenging. We would wake up together every Saturday morning and go to the Southwest Chatham library. We would tutor all day from 10am to 4pm. I loved the fact that we were tutoring and together; however, it was very taxing on us and we were exhausted by the end of the day. Our determination allowed us to preserver, but we knew something had to change. While continuing to be consistent every Saturday, we came up with a method to help ease us of all this pressure we were experiencing. We decided to duplicate ourselves. We begin seeking like-minded individuals who had a passion to help others as we did. We recruited a few tutors at a time, then more tutors, then more tutors, until we finally had a huge team to serve the masses. Today, we are currently 35 plus tutors strong.

Have you ever had to pivot?
During Covid, it was tough on everyone, including us. Schools were closing and becoming more remote. Individuals and families were becoming ill. There was so much going on at a rapid rate. At the time, we were 100% providing face to face services. We experienced problems because so many available and open community locations were closing or shortening their hours (libraries, food places, malls, etc.). We needed to make a pivot soon or stand the risk of our business becoming obsolete. We decided to change our services from face to face to virtual services. That decision was paramount for us. Not only did we skyrocket in production and sales, we were also able to retain many of our clients as well. Had we not made the pivot, our business would have plummeted like so many during that time.
