We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Corey Clifton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Corey below.
Alright, Corey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My music career from Tennessee to California to Seattle – songwriting, live performance, building bands, getting into the local scenes, recording songs.
Some highlights:
~ I won a Battle of the Bands in San Fransisco out of 60 bands and multiple rounds and got to headline a NYE show in downtown San Fransisco.
~ I was recruited, flown to LA, and recorded an EP with the same producers of OneRepublic and Tame
Impala for a sync music project.
~ In the past 2 years I’ve become a respected and well known act in my hometown of Knoxville. That is what I dreamed of when I was younger.
~ I built and lead a killer 5-8 person band that is starting to tour regionally.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an East Tennessee native who traveled the west coast for 8 years learning the craft of live performance.
My original sound is a fusion of soul, blues-rock, funk, and r&b with addictive riffs, powerful lyrics, and great vocals. Live shows are energetic, memorable, and kick-ass.
In 2022 I was recruited by, flown to LA, and produced by the same producers of OneRepublic, Tame Impala, and Arctic Monkeys.
I am a recording artist and co-writer for Baxter House Music – a non-exclusive sync licensing company that has over 20 billion streams.
By day I am a digital product designer who creates the look and feel for apps and websites of all sizes, by night I am a regional rockstar.
I am the son of Sasquatch. 👣🎸👣

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
At the height of my early music career I sustained a vocal injury from a mix of heavy singing and harcore acid reflux. It was devastating – I was no longer able to sing after a lifetime of performing and thought I would never be able to sing again.
I gave up my musical aspirations for several years but I could never be fully happy without performing and playing and singing.
So I decided I wasn’t going to let my injury define me any long – It took 2 years of dedication to personal research on my issues, and many doctors visits + vocal therapy to rehab my voice.
I’ll never be able to sing like I used to but I know how to care for my voice properly now and to avoid future injuries and can sing for up to 3 hours at a time now!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Indie on the Move . com – it is a compendium of all the clubs in the US with all their booking information. I wish I had known about this years ago because I could have started touring way earlier!
