We recently connected with Corey Brausch Hurley and have shared our conversation below.
Corey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I was first pondering my business name, I knew I wanted it to be unique, holistic and grounding. Being the owner of a boutique social media agency, I wanted something that represented our essence of really tuning into our client and their brand – to best serve them and create content that really resonates with their audience and showcased their expertise. But, I also wanted something that showcased our expertise in the social media marketing world.
Eventually, I crafted “Seven Willows” as my business name.
There are many meanings and traits behind the number, 7 – but it is related to prosperity, abundance, intuition, wisdom, growing self-awareness, and shifts in life [ and business ] that can have a good impact on life and business! It is also a number that serves as a bridge or a connection between realms. I wanted this for my business because I will/am assisting business owners in growing their businesses and shifting in strategies with their businesses as they grow and gain prosperity through strategic content creation and engagement on social media. I utilize my intuition to embody my client’s brand and message to create aligned content for their accounts.
Now for the Willow… when researching the spiritual and historical significance of trees and plants, I found that the Willow tree best aligned with my brand essence and mission.
It is said that the Willow tree represents balance, harmony and growth – all things that occur when a successful social media strategy and presence are utilized. It is also said the tree represents the ability to let go of the pain and suffering to grow new, strong and bold. Just like many things in life, we pick ourselves up and try again – just like in social media, if a strategy didn’t assist in achieving a certain goal, we shake it off, learn, re-evaluate, and re-strategize.
The Willow tree is strong, yet flexible – so it can withstand anything you throw at it – just like working with us. We strategize, craft, implement, build and we support you through every endeavor in your business.
Together, we create abundance, balance, harmony, and growth for your business – while withstanding anything social media throws at us, whether that be algorithm changes, updates, trends, certain goals, and launches – whatever it is, we will be working with you to pivot, change and grow with your businesses as needed.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My side hustle definitely turned into a full-time business in a matter of 3 months! I was working as a marketing manager in the city and realized the corporate setting wasn’t for me – I needed a change. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and previously owned my own photography business – I knew I could make anything happen!
I started looking within Facebook Groups for gigs as a virtual assistant – this was before “social media managers” were an official title! I landed a few clients within a few weeks, soon enough matching my income at my corporate job. I spoke with my CPA to set myself up right tax-wise and began the official side hustle.
About 3 months in, I put in my two weeks, and off I went! I loved what I did, and I did it from anywhere. I worked as a virtual assistant creating content, email newsletters, organizing email inboxes, organizing Instagram messages, scheduling social media posts to schedulers, creating covers for YouTube videos, handling customer support, and more. I was also working as an aerial instructor and dance teacher at some local businesses.
I loved what I built! I could do yoga in the evenings, hike in the mornings, work in the afternoons, grocery shop any day of the week – it was what I knew I wanted – to be in charge of my own time.
Soon enough, within my first year – I hired my own virtual assistant. She is still with me today, 4 years later!
My business has been shaped a lot since those first few months. I’m excited to see where it continues to grow!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I love my clients, and I love having close relationships with them. My clients stay with me and my agency long-term. We have an average client retention of 3 years – which says a lot for a business being only 5 years old.
I typically send all of my new clients onboarding gifts, to give them that extra boost of excitement and appreciation for selecting and trusting us with their brand.
Then, I keep my lines of communication open and clear. Boundaries really are key while running a business and all of my clients respect my boundaries, as I respect theirs. It takes time to build trust, and I ensure we gain and keep theirs.
My team and I really do have a gift of embodying our client’s brand, voice, mission, and vision. We shift and change when the client does, and we match it again.
I keep my clients up to date on my personal life, and I check in on theirs as well – creating a circle of trust and understanding if things get delayed or if we need to take complete charge of the reigns for them while they handle some personal situations or need to take a pause in our work together.
Brand loyalty comes from trust, communication, and appreciation! Seven Willows would not be here today if it wasn’t for my amazing clients!
