Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Coreena Breazeale. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Coreena, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Within the dog training industry it is common for companies to prioritize quantity over quality while promising premium services but delivering bare minimum results. When ReviveK9 Dog Training was born we wanted to flip the script, we set out to offer a dog training service that delivers a premium service that promotes success in training for both the owner and dog for life.
We have taken the steps to not only become experts in teaching the dog but also teaching the owner, the human side of the leash is not widely prioritized in our industry. If the human is not up to par on training and what needs to occur when the trainer is not around then success will never be found! No matter how much time a trainer invests into the dog.
Our training programs allow our clients the ability to not only succeed but also to find a community of other dog owners wishing to achieve the best lives with their dogs.
ReviveK9 goes above and beyond for our clients and our dogs because their success is our highest priority.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest I had always felt a calling towards animals, I worked in a vet hospital before I graduated high school and actually made moves away from the pet industry when I joined the Coast Guard. During my time serving active duty I was fully operational running Search and Rescue missions as well as Law Enforcement missions on the small boats.
The Coast Guard stationed me in the Florida Panhandle where I found my way back to the pet industry through a station mascot we had named Gibbet. Gibbet was a Black Lab who was a survivor of a hurricane that effected the Gulf Coast in the years prior to me reporting to the unit. She was a little bit of sweet and a little bit of spicy, despite being temperamental she had this amazing sixth sense where she knew when she was needed. Being at a first responder unit we witness so much tragedy. Gibbet was a ray of shine for so many people that were experiencing their darkest days, she was able to bring smiles to people who lost family members or had experienced trauma. She made them smile.
This was intriguing to me, I obsessed about it, I wanted to be able to continue being involved in situations like that. I found a local service dog training organization and started volunteering with them, I learned a lot and got my foot in the door into the training industry.
While I started to learn about dog training I started my own pet sitting business and started going to school in pursuit of my Bachelors Degree in Entrepreneurship. As time went on I ended up landing several positions as a Professional Dog Trainer with other companies.
Throughout my time in the Coast Guard and working for these other training companies I had a lot of fantastic examples of bad leadership, I got to experience firsthand what I wanted to change in the industry and the type of leader I wanted to be one day. After the rug being pulled out from under me several times I decided to take the leap and go at it on my own.
With very little idea of what to do in business ownership, I hit it head on and was ready to take on what the world had coming my way. ReviveK9 Dog Training was born and grew to the point of being too much to handle on my own, I hired my first employee and now have a team operating the company. We work together to be able to offer the best service possible to our clients while also bringing them together to form a beautiful community where dog owners and pet industry professionals can come together.
As if running a dog training company isn’t enough I am also heavily involved in nonprofits, both in on the pet side and another for women entrepreneurs. I have helped found and continue to build Tampa Bay Women’s Professional Network where we offer a space for women professionals to come together and cultivate meaningful friendships with other women who just get it. This organization has completely changed my life and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of my passion projects.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Community is key when you are in a service based industry. Something that I have leaned on very heavily is that you reap what you sow, the things you do today have so much potential to grow into something large and beautiful tomorrow.
I have prioritized getting to know others in the pet industry to the point where I have been able to organize large events with 30+ businesses and organizations getting involved. The more time you spend on cultivating relationships the more organic traffic will start to come your way.
Another aspect that has assisted me in building a reputation is that I am accessible to those who need it, I am not a gatekeeper and if I can help change someone’s life over a simple message on social media then I will give it my all. Be approachable and open minded to opportunity because it is literally around every corner!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is part of my character, it is something that comes naturally. There is no reason to be anything else, if an idea doesn’t work out the way you thought it would simply find the silver lining, learn from it and move on to the next thing.
One of the biggest moments in my life where I realized I had a high threshold of resilience was when the last company I worked for promised to give the company to me rather then closing down, while I was waiting for that process to start the company was sold to another trainer and the rug was pulled out from under me. Rather then letting this situation get me down I decided that I could start from the ground up and do it ten times better and that’s exactly what I did.
There is no room for fear in business, there is just try and then try again if it doesn’t work out the way you planned. Dust yourself off and keep on moving forward!
