We were lucky to catch up with Corea Connie recently and have shared our conversation below.

Corea, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.

I like to call myself a Self Taught Makeup artist. I literally sat in front of a mirror days on end practicing different techniques. Watched countless videos. Begged friends to let me try different things on them as well. I honestly can’t say I’ve faced any obstacles when it comes to learning more because when I want to learn, I make it happen.

Corea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am a freelance Makeup Artist and also a student esthetician. I’ve been doing makeup for about 2 years now and I am very passionate about the beauty industry. I specialize in beauty enhancement and skin services. I believe when a person looks good, it helps them to feel 10X better. I love that I am able to help somebody feel better about themselves.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect for me is seeing a clients reaction when I finish. The smile on their face is most definitely unmatched. If it’s a special event, knowing that I will be a part of their memories for years to come is a blessing.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I actually built my following brand new when i moved to Dallas. My original instagram was hacked so I had to start all over. I use lots of hashtags, follow people with like interests. I also go out and network. I airdrop my business card when I am in public which has all of my social media linked. The biggest one is literally just being a walking face/billboard for my brand when i’m out and giving people my social media.
