Cord, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

Imagining to be a space traveler and superhero as a kid (and even to this day), I constantly found myself gazing up at the stars wondering where life and music would take me. That vast expanse of blackness, illuminated by shining stars always inspired me. The bands that I created or played in during my life often had celestial connotations in the band names – Star Collector, The Space Rockers, Satellite, The Stars, and Supernova. The name Stargazer Productions naturally came to me when naming my business.

At Stargazer Productions, I work with stars, which is befitting of the business name. The talent that works with Stargazer is incomparable. They are not only some of the most talented people in Texas, but they are quality people in general. Stargazer Productions has been in business for over a decade, with people of all types crossing my path. At this level in the game, I only bring on the highest caliber musicians and engineers with stellar character and commitment. We are in business so our clients’ dreams and wishes for the perfect event can be fulfilled, which is represented by the business’ name.

For folks who may not have read about you before, can you please tell our readers about yourself, how you got into your industry / business / discipline / craft etc, what type of products/services/creative works you provide, what problems you solve for your clients and/or what you think sets you apart from others. What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc.

Stargazer Productions is a party band and DJ production company that specializes in high-energy, live party bands for music events, weddings, corporate events, galas, music venues, fundraisers, casinos, and festivals. I started Stargazer Productions with the creation of the party band, The Space Rockers.

I’ve performed as a musician my whole life in both original and cover bands. Inspired to create something unorthodox and unique, I formed a themed, comedic show band called The Space Rockers, which launched Stargazer Productions. The Space Rockers – superheroes from outer space – are an outrageous party band with a cast of superheroes that have landed on Earth to restore the party. The band is like a live comic book set to music, complete with costumes, dance moves, comedy, and an invisible talking spaceship. I performed as the singer, Captain Cosmos, for many years.

The Space Rockers was a huge success. They have opened for various iconic 80s bands like The Outfield and A Flock of Seagulls. They’ve also performed for opulent charity events, festivals, and corporate events for notable companies such as DELL, Southwest Airlines, the San Antonio Spurs and so many more. They’ve been interviewed and performed on both the radio and television many times, and have been featured in several magazines.

As The Space Rockers grew, and the demand for shows exceeded our capabilities, I began creating new party bands such as Electric Circus, Satellite, The After Party, and Mr. Worldwide – A Pitbull Tribute. Each band is unique and offers clients a different experience. I stepped aside from performing regularly to managing the business and creating bands full-time.

Stargazer Productions has become a recognizable source of unsurpassed live party bands and female DJs all over Texas and the USA. Our client list continues to grow as notable companies and organizations like CITGO, Bank of America, Mike Ditka (NFL Cigars with the Stars), Google Fiber, American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, and countless brides and grooms book our bands to make their events memorable and special. Stargazer offers professional bands that are original and fun at reasonable rates, and we are fully engaged with clients in the months preceding their events to make sure everything flows perfectly.

What do think helped build your reputation within your market?

Playing as a member in the bands helped build my reputation among the other musicians and clients. Being in the bands initially, allowed me to impart my vision of the company and the direction and production of the shows. I performed in The Space Rockers for years and then played bass in The After Party as it first took shape. I currently perform as needed in any of the bands, but primarily manage the operations of Stargazer Productions from the Austin and Dallas offices.

Starting as a musician that transitioned into a business owner helped me to stay in sync with the needs and expectations of the musicians and allowed me to build awesome, high-quality bands. Being a musician rather than just a businessman is also a bonus to those that book our bands. People feel secure knowing the business was built by a person experienced operating in the music world and knows how to put on a good show. People hiring our bands rest assured that their needs are understood and addressed from all angles while getting a truly unique music experience for their event.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The bands speak for themselves! The biggest source of new clients comes from attending our bands’ shows. We have countless bookings clients that have hired Stargazer bands after watching them perform at their company’s parties or a friend’s wedding.

Stargazer bands perform at many public events that end up bringing in private party clients. The bands frequently play at city festivals and events, concerts in the park, casinos, nightclubs, and resorts. Many events are family-friendly where kids and people of all ages can gather and watch the bands perform. The bands also play at colleges and for fraternities and sororities. The word of their great parties spread, resulting in other schools and college organizations across Texas and other states booking the bands.

Repeat customers are also a significant source of Stargazer Shows. Our bands are hired year after year from the same clients, especially for fundraising galas and corporate events. We have some clients that have been with Stargazer for over a decade. Our bands make big impacts on events, keeping guests and patrons on the dancefloor and having a great time until the last note of the night is played.
