We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cooper Nigut a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cooper, thanks for joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I’ve been very fortunate to earn a full-time living from my creative work. I knew my whole life I’d likely end up in a creative role. All my life I’d been doodling, creating, writing, and more, always dabbling in passion projects. Fortunately I took on a social media marketing internship for my first foray into the professional world, which allowed me to write fun copy and come up with cool, visually appealing content for my clients’ social media platforms. This kind of naturally evolved into doing more high-produced creative and content strategy for larger companies in more of a project-management and strategy role. Eventually I decided to pivot and take on more hard creative work and production myself.

Cooper, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always loved cool social content – working with big sports and entertainment brands kind of forces you to keep your thumb on the pulse of what’s going on in social and all the trends. I was fortunate to land an agency gig that focused on outputting unique and engaging, best in class social content and I developed a love for innovative content creation.
I help my clients create visually appealing, engaging, and effective content and implement that into their social strategy. My work ethic, customer service, and overall easygoing nature sets me apart from my others.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love being able to immerse myself into a project and produce something both visually striking and strategically effective. I feel like when you can make something look good but it also DOES something, you’re doing it right.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Not in particular. I just love being able to create. It’s a blessing to be able to write on a blank canvas every day and provide value.
