We recently connected with Cool Water The Digital Dopeman and have shared our conversation below.
Cool , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
In the early two thousands, I received and email from Jack HUmphrey about blogging for success, I opened it. As I began to delve into the email I became attracted to the content that was presented before me and decided to dive in. As the months progress I started seeing blogging/content marketing as a viable way to build a brand and become an authority online. Jack offered a program called Blog Success. I signed up and started learning the process of how to blog effectively on the internet.
Years passed and I become more and more proficient at my craft,as timed passed. Learning the internet was a strange animal but I was up for the task. Blog- Success offered training modules that guided me through one step at a time on how to step a website and curate content. I was passing the classes and learning how to become an authority online through the Blog Success training.
Things I Could Of Have To Speed up my Learning Curve ?
I don’t know if there is anything I could really do to speed up my learning process. It’s just part of the process. Maybe, If there was one thing I could have done to become successful faster is to FAil faster. Failing faster would allow me to learn quicker and reach my learning curve quicker.
Skills I think Are The Most Essential ?
The skills that are the most essential is writing, learning to delegate, understanding technology, social adaptability, and communication. These skills have allowed me to navigate through various business dealings with people from all over the world. There are times I may have to edit work from India, or, take approved work from Africa. Having these five skills help me complete projects from all over the world.
What Obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Like any business finance and capital is always and obstacle that many people struggle with. I think having cash flow to push the business forward have been a struggle most of the time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
One day, I just so happened to be checking my email, looked into my spam folder, and saw an email about blogging from a guy named Jack Humphrey. I opened it. It was like, he was speaking directly to me, so I inquired further. After clicking the link to subscribe to his email list, I was hooked. The emails he was sending just spoke to my soul. After a while, I jumped into his membership site as a member. As divine intervention would have it, I go to my mailbox on another day, and I get an invitation to a Google event about retail stores being online. I called my partner and asked if he wanted to attend. He said, “Hell Ya!” So we went to a free live seminar by a company called Stores Online.
The Stores Online event was a full-day event with free food and marketing materials about getting an E-Commerce business started. They talked about Google, Yahoo, and the most popular items sold on the internet. We left out of there and were sold on building an online business. By this time, it’s 2010, and I’m dabbling into blogging and slowly fading away from the music business. The following year, another opportunity came my way: publishing e-books. I locked into this and started seeing money on the internet. I was sold on the internet as being my path toward success.
Fast forward a few years to 2016, and I’m still learning the inner workings of the internet and trying to build an online presence in cyberspace. Facebook was still the hottest social media platform in town. While posting on Facebook and getting some engaging comments, I decided to respond to a comment as Cool Water The Digital Dopeman. This girl, a Facebook Friend, said, “she liked that name.” And this was how The Digital Dopeman was born. I started testing the name out, and people would give me snickers and giggles about it. I knew then I had a hit and pursued it as such.
All my marketing materials showed The Digital Dopeman concept. So, I started to build my digital infrastructure with my blog site ishiphopdead.com and the home base site thedigitaldopeman.com. These two digital web properties have been able to help me generate income and build a digital presence on the internet.
Now, it’s 2022, and I have a strong online presence and brand that people are becoming familiar with due to my guerrilla marketing. I have published five books, from Vending to the music business. I would have never thought that I would be a content marketer, but you never know what the universe has in store for you.

I also run a podcast called Bar Room Chats and an e-commerce business, as well. I offer consulting services to those looking to start a content marketing business and setup their digital infrastructure.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I am a heavy ready of many books but this particular book “The Millionaire Fastlane” by MJ Demarco opened my eyes to how business are really run and how folks scale to millions of dollars fast. This book changed my outlook on business and gave me a different perspective on how one should truly look at speed as a resource in building a profitable business at scale.,

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most important part about being a creative is the ability to express yourself unapologetically. Art is meant to be shared and one’s point of view should be allowed to flourish out in the world. Its a huge relief to know you can express yourself and people either will like or dislike it, but you being the artists don’t have to worry about that because it is just one facade of who you are as a person.
When people say they love what you do or they say what you said or wrote inspired them is truly a blessing and a honor.
