Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to CONSEQUENC3 . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
CONSEQUENC3, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
My music is the thing I’m the most passionate about. I can’t compare the fulfillment making music gives me to anything else I’ve done in my life, it is definitely the reason I get out of bed most days, and the reason I stay out so late having fun. I’m about the furthest thing from a nepo baby so I still have a “regular” job that I work full time during the week. I’m lucky that my hours give me the flexibility I need to be able to pursue my music and stay creative.
CONSEQUENC3, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name’s CONSEQUENC3, I’m originally from Philly but I stay in Denver now. I’ve always loved music and have made music for most of my life but I started rapping in the summer of 2022. I love the hip hop community in Denver, it’s full of talented and supportive people who work hard at their craft and have a deep understanding and respect for all aspects of hip hop. I make music that’s very lyrical, you can listen to the goofy and fun songs or my more contemplative and thoughtful music and hear my distinctive flow and style. I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made in the past year since I started rapping in both my music and how I’ve marketed and promoted myself. I’ve grown a lot as a musician and I think you can hear it in my music and see it in the way I carry myself when I’m out at events. At this point I just can’t wait to see what the future holds.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have a lot of goals regarding my music, I need to have fun and enjoy the time I put into my music first and foremost. A bigger goal I’ve been working towards is going on tour and being able to connect with other musicians and hip hop heads all over the world. The ultimate goal though would be living off of my music. I would love to be able to dedicate all of my time to my music instead of having to split it between a day job and my passion.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a musician is being able to connect with other musicians I look up to and respect. The imposter syndrome definitely hits me hard some days, but what grounds me and helps me solidify my confidence as an artist is having people I respect ask for my opinion, advice, and to work with me to create music. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities and support I receive from so many other incredibly talented people.
