Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Connie Maynord. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Connie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
FROM CHILD MODEL TO MATURE MODEL & SAG/ELIGIBLE ACTOR-
My first modeling gig was with my mom at age 10 at a PTA event in TN. In the next years, I was in school Plays, Dance lessons/recitals & beauty Pageants. After high school graduation, I graduated Modeling School in Michigan which led to fashion modeling in Michigan and California. Life happens and I marry, son born & divorce. All this lead me as a young single mom with a 3-year-old son living in campus/married housing and becoming a full-time college student, working 20 hrs. on campus & I continued to modeling. College graduation leaded my career to a Hospital & School Dietician. I remarried and my second son was born. Yes, I have continued to model in KY, Russia, TX, TN, China following my husband’s profession. My modeling has included- fashion runway, tea-room, print, commercial, artist paintings, & magazine model in 2-issues in NYC. My sons are 12 yrs. apart in age and I didn’t adjust to empty next so I began class in acting, commercial, audition, photography, scene study, and film production. Presently, I am a full time SAG Eligible Actor & Mature Model with Talent Trek-Nashville Tennessee Agency. I have appeared in several TV commercials, Movies/films, Industrial print & Commercials, Music videos, and National Voice Over for Toyota- Saatchi & Saatchi, LA. This past year I created & published a Beautiful 2024 “CALENDAR GIRLS” Charity Cancer Calendar in honor of my young 33-year-old son who lost his battle with glioblastoma. The calendar featured my Beautiful & Sexy TN friends of ages 50-80! All beautiful, all talented with present & past interesting professions. (Retired Lt Col of Air Force, Private Investigator, Ms. Senior America, Book Writer, Artist, Singer/Song Writer, Talent Agent, Real Estate Broker, Actor, Model and my youngest is a Body Builder.) When asked, how did I become a Model & Actor? My answer- “a lot of Hard Work, Training, Classes, Background to Featured Actor & Model, Sweat & Tears and a BIG dash of “Smiles” as my plans are to continue forever as there’s only a few of us “Baby Boomer Model & Actors”.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Mature Baby Boomer Full-Time Model & Actor WHO CAN BE ANYONE!
I’ve lived a “Life Time of Experiences” from happiness to tears. This gives me many strengths to pull from as a Mature Actor with the Method form of Acting. Some of my experiences are- I was cast to play the “Mrs. Robinson” Seductive Lady, “Gran-Conn” who is much like Vicki Lawrence-Carol Burnett/Mama family, Still the King-Church Lady, Western Dancer, Snapped Killer Couples-Lady Beheaded, Widow, Health Client, University Professor, Hospital Cancer Patient, fully made-up Clown, Golfer, Christmas Elf, and yes- a corpse in a casket for TV show Nashville. My skills-I keep a Valid passport, I have resided in Russia & China, BS- Degree, Training in Modeling & Acting, Retired Dietician, Beginner Golfer, Shoot Handgun & Rifle, Drive Stick-Shift, Ride Bike, Storyteller, Board member on Community & Film/Actor Boards and I was 1st Runner-Up in Ms. Senior Tennessee.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As a Full-time Actor & Model, I have learned:
“Their Rejection is God’s Protection”- meaning a better gigs will come. I recall auditioning in TX. I was prepared and ready to give it all! As I entered the stage and took my marked place, I heard one in the producers say, “On my God- my ex-wife had red hair”! (as I was born a redhead and still am)- I knew I might as well dance off to the side and leave! lol
I recall an acting coach told me, “NO ONE Can be You”…. so Be YOU!
I’ve only done Theater once (highly suggested by coaches) as my “outgoing bubby personality” is hard to lasso” back for film & commercials.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of my first Modeling jobs at age 19, was in Lansing, MI with a fabulous Fashionista at the Lansing Country Club.
The formal dining room was full of beautiful women- now Think Up Scale Coco Chanel Ladies. Keep in mind- I’m 19 years old, red hair, fair skin, 5’6, slender, first model gig and the Fashion Designer dressed me in a Bright Orange Tinny Winny Bikini topped with a matching Bright Orange long floor length knife halter cover up. I was instructed to enter the dining room swishing the cover up from side to side like I was Marilyn Monroe then when I came up front on the platform, I was to do a 360 turn and when I did this to untie the halter and let the cover up fall to the floor!
I DID and I’ll never forget the sound of “surprise gasping sounds of shock from the audience”!
I continue to model with no fright! lol Last year I modeled pajama bottoms with a matching robe and the robe was opened and so I could model the Soma Bra.
