Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Connie Leon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Connie, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Consistently showing up as yourself. Being you and true to that. I know that I have probably had some missed opportunities because I don’t fit “the mold”. Or because I don’t conform to the status quo. I am okay with that, I can’t dwell on that. I can only be myself and continue to stand firm in my own beliefs, standards and perspective.
Being successful along with all the usual “cliché things”, like being consistent, never giving up and accepting failure also consist of truly knowing who you are and what you want for yourself; and going after that. Will you fail and disappoint? Absolutely. I have had so many setbacks professionally and personally but there is no way I would ever give up on my purpose and the goals I have set for myself. I have gotten back up every time and move forward, you heal and grow and good things will come.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The idea of true collaboration and knowing that you don’t have to worry about shared resources. Community over Competition. Explaining; Houston is so big yet tends to have such a small town mentality, no offense to anyone but the thought that we cannot all be in the same shared space and there being enough to go around has always been insane to me. If I know of something I always share what I know, it takes a lot of confidence to be this way. To know that no matter what there will always be something left for me. And, remaining in the mindset of abundance over scarcity, is something that many, many talk about but once you work with them and learn about their true intentions you realize people are not in this mindset. At the end of the day my success is measured by the amount of true positive impact and those people around me who I was able to help. I have nothing left to keep for me, for what?
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In the same space of collaboration, people will always have opinions about you but I have always been honest, open and truthful. That’s all I can continue to do. If people don’t like me or what I do then that’s completely on them, there will always be naysayers, my continued actions and success, I feel speak for themselves. I wouldn’t be where I am and people wouldn’t continue to work with me if I was a bad person. I have faith in me and will always work as hard as I can to achieve my goals.
