Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Connee Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Connee , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I actually enjoy being a business owner. I was never the best with working a 9-5 job, simply because I was always late or didn’t want to go! Lol
Honestly, having my own business makes life a lot easier for me, especially having a busy, busy, BUSY 1 year old lol
I do sometimes have the thought of getting a regular shmegular job but it quickly fades! It’s usually due to me not having clients at the time.
I had to realize that having a business is hard work! You have days where you make tons of money and days where you make zero. We just have to learn to fight through the bad days so we can make it through the days where we have a lot of clients.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
To be honest, when I started this business, I had already been doing graphics for people for a while. I restarted doing graphics back in 2019 but I orginally started when I was 12 in ’05! I am 100% self taught and that is what makes me love this even more. Seeing how much I’ve grown when it comes to designing is what keeps me going. I love seeing my clients excited when I present their finished work to them. Everyone is doing graphic design but no one is standing out. Everyone is playing off of the same websites, flyers etc. Where is the creaivity? Graphic design is an art and I take pride in making sure my work screams creativity. I recently decided to upgrade my business to do Brand Identity Development and Websites. I want to give businesses a chance to really find their image and attract their target audience. That’s my main focal point when it comes to Studio Brooklyn Elite.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I see my business growing to be an actual design agency. This will become a one stop shop agency for all things branding.
I plan on hiring more designer, receptionist, recruiters, marketing managers, etc.
This will become a known design agency and not just me as a solo designer.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Definitely being consistent and getting in front of them. My dad said be annoying! Lol you definitely have to be seen in order to grow clientele.
I get a lot of sales from word of mouth as well. I like to give incentives for those that bring me clients.
But mainly, getting in front of your audience and knowing who your ideal target audience is, will help you grow!
