Alright, Comfort thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?

I would say I was fortunate from the beginning because my family saw my potential, makeup just being my hobby at the time. With my friends I believe they saw my skill and unconsciously supported me but I definitely never made either of them feel like it was compulsory or guilty when they decided to use someone else’s service.

Comfort, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Beautybyderin (BBD) is the culmination of my passion for makeup which i started during my college years and has blossomed into a thriving makeup business. In Nigeria where my journey began by providing makeup services to girls in my college and community before learning professionally and officially starting my own business. Here at Beautybyderin we specialize in creating timeless makeup looks by taking each clients unique features and enhancing them; i like to believe makeup is an art form, no two faces are the same, from the shape of the brows to the texture of their skin. I take great pride in my customer service because not only do we beautify faces here at BBD we also beautify your day.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.

Asking for feedback after a makeup session is one of the major ways I keep in touch with my clients, using surveys, or directly asking my clients. Sometimes sending personalized E-mails, messages and personalized calls. Rewarding loyalty by giving discounts. I also ensure to Offer outstanding customer service experiences by promptly addressing inquiries, concerns, and issues.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

Starting up in college I definitely had very little capital, it was mostly my savings and support from my parents financially. I used this to purchase all the necessary equipments and all the profit i made from the clients were all put towards growing my business.
