We caught up with the brilliant and insightful COLTx a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
COLTx, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Every project is personal because of the amount of blood sweat and tears you have to put into it as an artist. Music is very personal and most of the time is a reflection based on what the artist went through during the timeframe the project/each song was created.
If I had to chose one that was the most meaningful to me though I would have to say it’s my newest project “Being Me”. It is my second project and the first time I feel like I have really been able to communicate my thoughts well and my future direction as an artist through music.
I dropped my first project “Limitless Range” in August of 2021. That was special because it was my first experience going through the entire process of writing, recording, mixing mastering, shooting a video and putting out a collective.
“Being Me” is the most meaningful so far because I spent an entire year making sure it sounded like how I envisioned it. A big shoutout to Cameron Cartee for bringing that vision to life through mixing and mastering the project. I recorded every song myself, so it truly has COLTx embedded in the framework of the sound. I did a lot of growing over the year 2022, coming into my own as not only a music artist but as a man. Through this development I was able to elevate to a place that I used to only dream of.
To sum it up, “Being Me” is just as the title suggests, there is nothing more important than staying true to yourself, buckling down and becoming the person you’ve always dreamed of being.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is COLTx, I’m a music artist from Houston, Texas currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. After my collegiate football career came to a close in December of 2018 I spent the year of 2019 100% focused on creating music and elevating my sound. Music had always been a part of my life since an early age but there is a huge gap between just making music as a hobby and truly pursuing a career in it.
My now manager Chris Horvath (ran Darp Studio when names like Metro Boomin, Wheezy, Turbo, Ricky Racks, Young Thug, Zach Farlow and many more were coming into their stardom and/or reaching that next level) discovered me in late 2019 through a mutual connection and convinced me to move out to Atlanta March of 2020.
And I’ll never forget this, my first ever pack of beats from a producer was from Ricky Racks. I didn’t sleep for a week after receiving those, I still get hype just remembering the feeling.
Since my first night in the city I have been blessed to be around stars from different generations and all walks of life. Adam “Pacman” Jones, Zab Judah, Sonny Digital, Ricky Racks, Young Thug, Metro Boomin, Ethan Stevens , Gunna (Side fact: My first time meeting Metro, Ethan and Gunna, I got to sit in on the making of what came to be “All The Money” on Metro’s latest masterpiece Heroes & Villains. That was inspirational.) NoCap, Hoodrich Keem, Special, Wheezy, Turbo, Yak Gotti, T.I, Busta Rhymes, Cameron Cartee, Jeff Edwards, Justin Childs, Rich Homie Quan, Zach Farlow and many more. Seriously, life has been such a blessing.
My mission is to create music people can enjoy till the end of time. Music is special to me because it is based off a feeling and can transcend language barriers to connect people from different cultures and backgrounds. Nothing makes me more excited than being up on stage sharing my energy with the crowd.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a Music Artist is connecting with people from all walks of life. Music has no barriers and is able to touch the hearts and minds of people all over the world. Especially in our world today when streaming is accessible in almost every country. Knowing this, I never hold back while creating, if I’m feeling pain I express pain, if I’m happy I’ll express happiness, if I’m frustrated I’ll express frustration, because you never know who might hear that and be able to relate. Nothing is more rewarding than someone reaching out after listening to your music and saying it really hit home with them or it helped them through a hard time or decision. Long as you keep pushing there’s better days ahead.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best way to support a Music Artist if you enjoy their music is to share it with your friends and family. Artists should support other Artists, DJ’s, producers, engineers, photographers and videographers and vice versa. From a marketing standpoint, nothing will ever top the power of word of mouth and nothing is more rewarding than genuine human connection.
