Colin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

From a young age, I was drawn to the creative arts, driven by a vivid imagination and a deep passion for hip hop culture. Growing up in Brooklyn, I frequently ventured into Manhattan, just a short 20-minute trip away, to visit record labels and immerse myself in the music scene. I devoured magazine content, from cover to cover, reading The Source, Right On!, Word Up!, XXL, and more. My curiosity led me to write letters to these publications, and I even scoured the classifieds.

My fascination with film was equally intense. I would watch movies on mute, critiquing editing techniques and spotting mistakes. Writing screenplays and acting were also pursuits I enjoyed, and I took on a few background roles.

In college, I worked diligently to launch my own radio show on WSIA 88.9 FM. This passion for media continued with a successful podcast that I co-hosted, further solidifying my commitment to a creative and artistic career.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I began my journey in the industry as an intern at VP Records, where I immersed myself in the marketing and publicity department. This experience provided me with a solid foundation and valuable industry connections. Eventually, I transitioned from being an intern to starting my own venture—FAM RECORDS, a record label based in Brooklyn.

At FAM RECORDS, I wore many hats. I managed artists, directed music videos, and handled all aspects of day-to-day operations. This included organizing shows, coordinating interviews, and managing radio promotions. My relentless drive for success was fueled by a deep passion for the industry and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

I modeled my approach after industry pioneers such as Russell Simmons, Damon Dash, Shawn Carter, Chris Lighty, and Eazy E. These figures were instrumental in shaping my business philosophy and work ethic. One of my proudest moments was receiving a cease and desist letter from the legendary group Groove Theory for using a sample from their iconic track “Tell Me.” This letter was not just a legal notice but a validation that the legendary group had heard my work, which was incredibly exciting for me.

For future clients, I want them to know that when they work with me, they’re not just getting a service—they’re getting a dedicated partner who will treat their project as if it were their own. My approach is characterized by creativity, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. I am passionate about my craft and will work tirelessly to ensure that my clients achieve their goals.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is seeing a thought transform into reality. It’s incredibly fulfilling to not only bring a vision to life but also to get paid for doing something I’m passionate about.
