Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cole Winters-McCabe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Cole, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

From a young age, my fascination with movie and show production led me to aspire to work in video editing. However, my path shifted when I discovered 3D animation. My entry into concert visuals was accidental; while exploring 3D animation, I approached the electronic music producer “AVELLO” to create a visual for his song, which unexpectedly kickstarted both my career and a wonderful friendship.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I specialize in crafting concert visuals as a freelance 3D Artist. My portfolio includes collaborations with renowned musical artists like RL Grime, Jai Wolf, Discolines, Avello, Sara Benyo, among others. Initially, I entered the industry by connecting with an artist I admired. Over time, I’ve sustained a clientele through referrals and consistent social media presence. I believe in showcasing top-notch work publicly; it’s this approach that opens doors to opportunities.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Crafting a live show demands an incredible effort of multiple creatives working seemlessly together, witnessing a finished production is incredibly rewarding. Whenever I contribute to a show, I always attend its live performance, not only to see the end result but also to have the chance to connect with the incredible individuals who were part of its creation.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

This year, I connected with an amazing group of fellow 3D artists. Having that community has been a significant source of support, allowing us to exchange ideas and grow collectively. As a an individual freelance artist I think it is important to seek out a community.
