We were lucky to catch up with Cole Rom recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My healing journey began when I worked at a shop called Mystical Moon in Florida. As you might be able to tell from the name, it was the typical store filled with magical books, sage, crystals, and psychics. I quickly dove into learning all about the intuition, chakras, reiki, and more. I found myself healing so much spiritually, yet my body was still plagued by chronic conditions, my mind was filled with anxiety and worry, and I was virtually numb to my emotions. I was still in constant flight or fight mode and didn’t think I could ever really heal from my traumatic childhood. Being in the “love and light” culture became toxic and unproductive. So I searched for other methods of healing. I got into journaling, meditations, self-help books, and became certified in herbalism. I got to a point where I had so much insight into my trauma and my coping mechanisms, but that didn’t do much for how I was treating myself and how I was feeling, which was lost, alone, fearful, and helpless. I eventually went into a depressive episode, finally letting my emotions have their say. It was a Dark Night of the Soul that lasted for nearly a month, and I knew that there had to be a way out, but I didn’t have the resources to get there.
Then I came across a somatic healing course led by Luis Mojica. That is when everything started to make sense. I learned that the body is where trauma and emotions are stored, and that, because my body was abused in childhood, I had tried to get as far away from it as possible. I allowed my body to release the stored emotion through dance and tears and rage ceremonies (which is basically hitting and screaming into a pillow). I gave attention to my body without judgment and regulated my nervous system through actions as simple as breath and touch. I learned to slow down, release perfectionism, and simply be. Through years of self-devotion, I had reclaimed my power and truly healed on every level (although this is always a life long journey).
I knew that there were so many other people who suffered from this feeling after they experienced traumatic events, and I wanted to share my decade’s worth of knowledge and experience. Many coaches and teachers out there were teaching only one way to heal, and I desired to show others the holistic approach that had given me back my life. The first way I did this was creating my business Beauty and the Moon, where I sold resin female figures, art that empowered people to see the goddess within us all and see the power in women.
Shortly after I started a new business, Spiritual Somatic. The name represents the journey that I offer to others- creating a safe space to heal on all levels, from the spiritual to the somatic (body). I work with others to expand their capacity to feel powerful, at ease, deserving, and joyful through workshops, courses, and working with me as their coach. The more I do this work, the more I recognize how deeply it is needed, and I feel so blessed to be able to give people the holistic tools to heal themselves and help them recognize that they are so much more than their most painful wounds.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
The more I do this work, the more I realize how strongly we identify with our trauma. It is something that affects us on every level, from how we relate to others, how we talk to ourselves, and what we believe about ourselves at a core level. We hold onto stories of the past, ones that say we are unlovable, unworthy, or not enough. I work with people to help them understand that they are not their trauma, and that they are worthy of everything that they desire in life. I believe I have a unique skill that allows me to unearth the underlying subconscious messages when someone speaks, to untangle the lines and connect the invisible dots from their past to their present. I gently and lovingly reflect their own truth back to them. I offer a space for people who have felt unloved and unsupported to be seen, heard, and understood. I am the coach and teacher I wish I had five years ago. And I try to create services and products that are affordable and accessible to all, from free or low priced meditations and somatic techniques, affordable or free workshops, to a free online community spaces.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve been on social media, either promoting someone else’s business or my own businesses, for more than eight years now. When I started this business, it was difficult to put into words what it is that I do. It was hard finding a photo or video that conveyed the deep and powerful work of trauma healing and inner acceptance. First off, know that you are so much more than what you produce for that tiny screen people are attached to every day. Please do not get caught up in what a random algorithm pushes out, or how many likes you get, or others’ stories about how they went viral in a month and bought a new house from all their new business.
Look at social media as simply another outlet of your creativity. Find joy and fun within the creation of a caption or a picture or a reel or tiktok. Detach from the outcome and the expectation. Worry less about the numbers, and instead focus on creating connections with the people who are already there.
Now, to the careful craft of being authentic while trying to make a profit. Write down who your ideal client is (get specific) and write down your “why”. Then write down what you love most about yourself, your personality, what you bring to the world.
And always have that in mind. When you post, speak directly to the person you are looking to bring into your business. Look at that content as an invitation, a portal into your area of expertise. Make sure it’s clear on your bio and your feed what you provide, how you can meet their needs. Talk to your followers as you would a friend, with all your unique personality and style included. Go to your profile right now and ask yourself, “If I saw this, would I want to follow this person? Would I know exactly what it is they do within a five second glance? Does this feel like “me”?”
And yes, sticking to a niche and certain brand colors helps people instantly recognize your business, and so does the way you speak and how you show up.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
In order to start my business, and more importantly, to continue building my business and not call it quits, I had to unlearn…everything. I consider each milestone in my business an initiation of sorts. Every time I get to release a new course or gain a new potential client, I find myself needing to release those old stories that held me back from success. I used to believe (and it does still comes up from time to time) that I was fundamentally flawed, that I was never good enough and had to be perfect, and that I was unworthy of my desires. Talk about a recipe for business disaster. What helps me overcome and shed these limitations is finding the source (usually an old belief from childhood) and asking how best to release them. Maybe I release the fear of failure by journaling about the worst things that could happen, and then the best things that could happen, realizing that it’s all okay regardless. If I feel angry that a new offer hasn’t gotten enough attention, I’ll examine how much pressure I am putting on myself and how that relates to how I felt in a certain past situation, then I’ll likely dance it out or scream into a pillow. If I feel the need to be perfect and the anxiety is creeping in, making me want to stay on my phone or laptop working all day and night, I’ll get off because I know it’s the last thing I need. I’ll come back to my body, take a bath, drink some calming herbal concoction, talk to my partner.
The most important thing for me is my rituals. They create a sense of identity and healthy structure. They allow me to prioritize my mental health and cultivate my devotion to self. I don’t skip breakfast. I always do my smoke cleanse, tea, and tarot in the morning. In the middle of the day I do a meditation or an EFT tapping exercise. I’ll find time to go to yoga or dance, even if it’s just for one song. I play with my dog and pet my cats regularly. I’ll always make time to read something that isn’t for my business or self-help in the evening, mainly fantasy novels. My nightly baths are filled with bubbles and surrounded by incense and crystals and pretty sounds (and the occasional invading cat).
This grounds me in my sense of self, reminds me that life is so much more than my business or the money I make from it that month. It gathers my energy up from exerting it in emails and calls and posts. It reminds me of my “why”. And it rewrites the story of “not enough, unworthy, unlovable”. In putting my wellbeing and joy first, I am saying, “you are worthy, you are more than enough, I love you.”
