We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful COLBY SAVAGE. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with COLBY below.
COLBY, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission the drives your brand?
The PVO Group was given to me by God, my first new heat machine gifted by a person not directly connected to me. Before getting my business going I had never considered making clothes it was not on my radar, however I’ve always been into fashion and dressing nice so it fits me quite well. My brand promotes positive thinking and living, our mission is to spread positive vibes all over the world using high quality clothing and accessories. We are also involved in the community we sponsor an annual free cookout which is geared toward our elders and youth. This year we plan to launch a mentoring and development program for boys ages 10- 21 called It Takes a Village.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I got into the industry through a prayer, I was at my wits end no college degree, no family business to inherit and I desperately needed something to call my own. Something different from the limited options my friends had chose which landed most in jail or an early grave. I didn’t know what to expect but when the answer came it came in the form of a heat press machine, once I learned how to use it I reached out to a very talented art design friend who created my PVO logo and I hit the ground running. I used an online service to produce multiple templates for pressing onto materials and once it was presented to the public it began to catch on and be fruitful. I’ve never been good at selling anything but because this was gift from my Father is sells itself. Everyone knows it’s good to be positive but the world will sometimes make us forget so the pvo brand is here to remind people through fashion that a positive mind will always prevail. I’m most proud of the people who have been influenced by the brand to change their way of thinking. I’m also proud that the pvo group is able to donate a portion of earnings to non profits that service our elders and children.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My resilience with this brand is rooted in its purpose, before I began this journey as an entrepreneur my thoughts were keeping me from reaching my full potential. Once I figured things out I began to deliberately monitor my thoughts and replace negative ones with positive affirmations, this process has benefited me a great deal and its imperative that persevere in my journey to help others think positively.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Stay open minded and creative keep your brand active and fresh- I invested in a business tent which allows me to do pop ups in style, I include free gifts with certain items its also important to have a variety of designs and items that promote the core brand and mission. My brand is bigger than me so it’s important to conquer fears and get out in the community.
