Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Colby Peters. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Colby, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on in recent times is an upcoming song called “Love Will Be The Light” for one of my music projects called CLOUDLESS which features an artist from Sierra Leone, Africa named The Trapkid. This co-lab is particularly special to me because I see a lot of myself in The Trapkid. We are both two human beings on planet earth chasing a dream but from opposite ends of the world and with vastly different circumstances. I’m a 36 year old man living in Orlando, FL, USA and The Trapkid is a 19 year old boy living in Sierra, Leone, Africa.
When I first launched the project CLOUDLESS I test marketed some of the music online and it seemed to be getting a good reaction from people in Africa. I would DM some of the people that would like the posts to see if they were bots, or actual people. One of those accounts messaged back and I realized quickly it was indeed, an actual human. His name was Issa Jusa Jarka aka The Trapkid and we ended up becoming cyber friends. As I got to know him more, I realized The Trapkid mirrored me in many ways. He believed in his abilities, he had a dream in his heart, and NOTHING was going to stop him.
I remember talking to him one day and he told me was HUNGRY, not in the metaphorical sense (although he is that as well), but physically HUNGRY. He had no food. He was literally trying to stay alive, and record music. He told me this was his way out and that all he needed was a chance. I BELIEVED it.
No matter the circumstances/tribulations he faces, he remains in the highest of spirits and radiates a vibration of LOVE for humanity and it has been absolutely inspiring to witness his hopeful and bright perspective on existence.
Even though to some The Trapkid may not have much, to me he has EVERYTHING. He has a DREAM, a heart of GOLD, and most importantly he is one of the most GRATEFUL human beings I’ve ever connected with.
And I believe that is what the world NEEDS. More people like The Trapkid who focus on what they DO have, rather than what they DON’T.
Needless to say, It has been absolutely incredible and eye opening to witness the journey of The Trapkid over these past few years and I know we stand together when I write that in times of uncertainty…
Love WILL be the Light. <3
Colby, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the music industry at the age of 16 when my dad, a professional piano player, would let me tag along with him to local gigs and play drums.
I always LOVED music from an early age and my first musical hero was the king of pop himself, Michael Jackson. When I was in the 8th grade a buddy of mine said he was starting a band and needed a drummer. So, I asked my dad if I could get a drum set and it wasn’t long before I was drumming in my first band. We wrote an original song, performed it at our middle school talent show, and there was not much else I wanted to do from that point forward with my life other than create and perform music.
I started several bands throughout my teenage years but feel like the first “real” band I was a part of was shortly after high school. It was called PHOENIX FALLING. I wrote and played drums in the band and that was the first step towards a life of musical creation.
When PHOENIX FALLING ended, it split into various other projects and was the beginning of several band members really defining their OWN sound. One of the guys of PHOENIX FALLING started a project called DYNA.LIV, and then two of the other guys and I started a group called GALIA SOCIAL. In the beginning, GALIA SOCIAL didn’t quite have a sound we agreed on and I started building a file of solo songs that didn’t fit with any of the bands I was playing in. These songs would later be used for a solo project called CLOUDLESS.
A few years after PHOENIX FALLING went different ways, a major management company became interested in DYNA.LIV. which I played drums for. It was an on/off situation for roughly 5 years and a few years into this project several of the others (CLOUDLESS, GALIA SOCIAL) started to define their vision/sound a bit more and another one even came into the picture called ELIOT & THE EVENING NOOSE which was the songwriting of my little brother Eliot combined with the musical arrangements of ex PHOENIX FALLING member Christian “LoG” LoGaglio and myself.
DYNA.LIV ultimately didn’t work out in the way we were hoping it would with the management company and there I was.
27 years old. No money. Not TOO much to show for any other project and THAT…
was when I made THE decision.
The decision that I was going to pursue this path of creation to WHEREVER it would lead regardless of the outcome. And THAT was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made in my entire life.
Not only would it lead to an “awakening” (more on that another time) but it ultimately lead to the creation I am MOST proud of.
SOULE$$ MUSIC.
SOULE$$ MUSIC is a concept record label from an alternate universe run by a man named Morty “The Duke” Underwood and it is an umbrella for all of my musical and creative endeavors.
Looking back, I believe everything had to go the way it did for the path to ultimately lead to SOULE$$ MUSIC and I am thankful every day for it.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes. I wish I knew about the “quantum field” earlier in my creative journey even though subconsciously I believe that’s where many of the creations were actually coming from. Earlier in the creative journey, it’s not that I was completely disconnected from the quantum but I didn’t UNDERSTAND it in the way I do now.
I’ve seen many incredible visionary creators speak of what I believe to be the “quantum realm” in interviews and many times not be able to put into words what it actually is. For example, John Mellencamp in an interview described the “place” his hit songs came from as sort of a “lucid dream” state or a “trance” where the songs are “channeled”.
The definition of the quantum field, according to Dr. Joe Dispenza, “is an invisible field of energy and information—or you could say a field of intelligence or consciousness—that exists beyond space and time. Nothing physical or material exists there. It’s beyond anything you can perceive with your senses.”
I consider the “quantum realm” to be the energetic “chess board of life”. A “secret fuel” of existence we can align with to help aid the true path of a soul and create our ideal existences here on planet earth.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. The mission driving my journey is the hope of a Global Ascension. I believe the first step of ASCENSION is first being AWARE of what it is, and secondly understanding HOW to ascend.
Spiritual ascension is a phenomenon in which you become more conscious of your sense of being and your connection with the world around you. If you’re waking, you probably won’t succumb to lower vibrational ego-centric activities but will instead operate from a higher vibrational frequency.
My “awakening” and journey of ascension began almost 8 years ago now and although every ascension is different, I do believe there are universal truths and practices that help to elevate the mind and support the cause.
If a “global ascension” were to occur, I believe the world would enter into a modern day “renaissance era” and absolutely be a better place.
The more “eyes on me” so to speak through the medium of entertainment, the more people I believe I can directly or indirectly help out in their path of ascension and this is the “greater mission” driven by the creative journey.
