We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cody Tyler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cody below.
Hi Cody , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I would say the most meaningful project I’ve worked on was my first music video / short film project I released last year. It was called “know about it” and we had shot it in 2020-2021 it was the first project I had written and arranged myself and truly dug deep with the message of the visuals. I also had composed a poem for the beginning of the film as well titled “Fei’s darkness”. I was in a place of frustration artistically and emotionally while writing this project so for me I wanted to really show my artistry and what I could do and I wanted to be undeniable as if there is no way you can’t feel it. I had spent every check I had for months saving up to put it together. I had a roomate at the time who did not want me to succeed as well and I couldn’t break the lease yet so that also had a lot to do with the drive aspect on the flipside lol. Lastly, the other thing I’m most proud of is my placement for my song “tiger blood” on E! Entertainments “Total Bellas” tv show. To create something from scratch and have it selected for a national syndicated show is a huge man.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This is actually the first time I’ve mentioned this but I moved back to Miami from Los Angeles last year. I moved due to things in California just changing and my living situation changed and people i worked with all broke up and ended up doing their own thing and for me I’m just like “ok God I’ve gotta figure out how to keep going “. In all honesty January 2022 to now has been a journey of growing and just allowing myself to just get strength as an artist and figure out direction. It’s been the first time I’ve truly learned patience and actually practiced it . Being in the position of transition and picking things back up is a very intricate one to say the least lol. But I’m here and I’m working on a new short film I’m writing the script now and plan to enter in some festivals this year and also on a new ep as well.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission or goal driving me is just as it’s always been from the start, which is to help people and just leave light in this world forever. I would say so far on my journey I’ve had a plethora of times I’ve been like “man why do i even care” but something in me is like it’s not always about you… it’s like I know what it’s like to feel insecure or like just have a dark cloud always over you and try to fill your sadness with something temporary. it’s like we all want to be heard or be understood … my art and talents bring that happiness or support naturally.
