We recently connected with Cody Meeks and have shared our conversation below.
Cody, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to build a platform that will be admired by people of all walks of life. I know my story and what I share is relatable and will build traction once I find my audience. After I’m gone I would love for people to say “ he was a good man “ or “ job well done “. I will be remembered for serving the community and being a vessel. I hope to be revered as an outstanding husband, father, son, brother, friend, and human being while keeping my faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the center.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The Rookie & The Vet Podcast was created in October of 2024. It is a thought creation I generated 5-6 years ago but never had the courage to get started. I was always too shy or nervous to get in front of the camera and speak my mind. I also was self conscious of what people would think. It wasn’t until a few months ago when I rededicated my life to God that I now live a new way of life. I’m not afraid to face my fears and I want to reach my full potential. The “RVP” specifically is a social media platform and podcast where I cover sports, lifestyles, and ultimately interview guest of many walks of life. Present and former athletes in my area as well as business owners and influencers in my community. Everyone has a story to tell and the RVPod is where they will be heard!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The Rookie & The Vet Podcast is still growing. One of my phrases I like to use on the platform is “ slow motion is better than no motion”. In these beginning stages I’m just proud of myself for putting my name, image, and likeness out there. I haven’t gone “ viral “ yet my most viewed clip has 15k on YouTube another one 4k but other than I may reach one thousand views here or there. For me in my own journey it’s not about how many people viewed, liked, shared, or subscribed but WHO! I’ve already caught the attention of a few successful self maid persons that want to get behind the RVP and I couldn’t be more thrilled. If I could share any advice on how to build social media presence it would be to but your pride aside and reach for the stars. Just get in front of that keyboard or camera and press go!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Unfortunately, as do many other adults I had a traumatic childhood that shaped who I would come to be growing up. In three consecutive years from the ages of 12 to 15 I lost all of my grandparents and my eldest brother Tyler. He was born with cerebral palsy which limited his motor functions. He was never able to walk or talk or even eat without assistance. In fact he was fed through a “ G- Tube in his stomach. At an early age I had to grow up and help my mom as much as I could because she was a single mother of three and one being disabled. I missed out on a lot. After he and my maternal grandmother Elizabeth passed in 2009 and 2010 I went into the deepest depression imaginable. I basically cut myself off from society and lived under rock nearly 15 years. This makes my journey to where I am now as a creator, writer, editor, and influencer even more worthwhile given where I was years ago. I’m under the impression that anything is possible if you believe in something passionately.
