We were lucky to catch up with Coco-Chanel Jonez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Coco-Chanel, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Many Fitness Professionals would disagree, but I believe it’s rather easy to grow a legit organic following on social media. When people say it’s hard to gain followers or grow an online community due to the saturation of the market, it’s because they haven’t stepped outside their own box of ideas.
Now first let me say this, everyone’s idea of success is built on a different timeline. And realistically, everyone in the fitness industry can’t be a muscle bound bombshell that gets 1million likes & 100 business sales off of their thirst trap photos. It would be really nice if we all could, however many of us have to use our personality and skill. So let’s start there!
First, you have to understand your market by knowing who would benefit from the services and/or products you serve. How are you going to connect with people that need your services. You must first figure out how you are going to nurture the relationship with them before you start selling anything to them. Build the foundation of friendship, first.
Secondly, you must be consistent. I know, I know, I know, you’ve heard it time and time again. But it’s really true you have to be consistent with building these online relationships. Engage, comment, collab, like, go live with all the accounts that are engaging with you! As well as with the accounts you want following you.
Third, your content matters! Are you providing thought provoking & valuable content that your audience WANTS? Test this out by going to a like-minded brand favorable to yours and audit their content. What are they posting? How many times a day? Are they engaging with their audience? What are they offering? Study their moves, don’t be an exact replica of them, but be open to see what they’re doing.
Fourth, Be Creative!!!! Don’t do the same redundant content over and over. People are not into watching other people workout, so if you’re making content of YOU working out, make sure it’s made for the viewer. The “How to” type video with instruction and good quality imaging. However, if you can impress people with back flips, handstand walking, flexible split stunts, etc — by all means use what you can, but remember if this is how you gain your audience– this is what you must maintain to keep them all.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I had to REBUILD my instagram account because my first account was HACKED! Omg it was a nightmare. I went from 7k followers to ZERO!
In order for me to keep up my momentum and not let that stop me, I had to keep creating valuable content. I had to form relationships online by searching for other fitness professionals and get them to see my content. I stayed consistent with posting and collaborating with other brands that could get me more viewership.
I physically went to fitness events to support other fitness professionals, I hosted fitness events and used my personality to plug my social accounts. And I definitely took advantage of using Reels on IG.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The freedom to create and the response from my creations. Nothing feels better than knowing that a client is pleased and overly satisfied with the work you have created and done for them. Especially, when they return back for more business!
