We were lucky to catch up with Coach Ratner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Coach, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
In my Junior years of college, I decided to not take the easy summer job I had working as a teller at a bank. I chose to go out on my own in the rare coin business traveling all over the country to trade shows and auctions. The wisdom learned was that you can go through life and be comfortably mediocre, but if you want to have a chance of greatness, you have to get uncomfortable.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I want all my students to reach their potential in life, but the most important aspect of your potential is healthy relationships. Love of yourself, love of your friends and family, and the love of your spouse or partner. If you get married today, you probably have less than a 1 in 5 chance of having a happy marriage. I want my students to throw those stats out of the window. The biggest decision you will make in your life is who you are going to marry, yet, few people learn about what it takes to be successful in dating and marriage. This is what I teach through my 4 phases of love class. This year I will have 2 new books published. Infinite Marriage: The 4 Phases of a Loving Relationship is out now and my next book, Never Feel Unloved Again: Symptoms to Strategies to Cure Low Self-Esteem, will be out soon.

Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
I have a great story of how one day learning at a Yeshiva in Jerusalem that I figured out I built a business that had no value to anyone else. it was this epiphany that got me into real estate development and finance and now my newest start-up.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I was nice to everyone and treated them fairly and EVERYTHING that came out of my mouth was truth!
