We recently connected with Coach Kody and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Coach thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Coach Kody began on the after school playgrounds of Los Angeles. Initially he would make songs for his groups to help with attention or to get them excited about learning new topics. The way kids would react to hearing their names in a song was infectious. This was all before the streaming era and once it became more accessible to release music, he began making songs for all kids and families.

Coach, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When we first began this journey we felt there was a void in the children’s music space where most of the music at the time sounded one way and was made for a specific audience, sometimes leaving parents and their kids with limited options. We’re most proud of the small things like our songs being used for videos when it’s a child’s “first trip to the dentist,” or a random DM from a parent that says the whole family listens to our music together. From teachers using our songs in classrooms or performing live and giving temporary, and maybe even long lasting memories for the kids.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal is to reach as many kids and families as we can. It all starts from the music, that’s the most important. From there, we would like to expand our reach in the community with organized events such as backpack drives, fundraisers, teacher donations, just helping others. An after school program where visual and audio are the focuses helping kids nurture and cultivate ideas.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is making a connection through something we’ve created. Most ideas start from zero just a ‘poof’ thought in your brain. When you’re able to make into something real and people, even if it’s just a person, says ‘hey I resonated with that.’ means the most and keeps you going.
