We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Clutchbarz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Clutchbarz below.
Clutchbarz, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Growing up, I’ve always been musically inclined. I was involved in a kid group and always singing in the choir at my church. However, I was heavily invested in my basketball career from playing on a collegiate levels and talks of playing overseas. After injuring my knee and finger, I knew it was time to take another route. In 2019 I dropped my first single “Super Stoned” and received a good enough response to continue to pursue the music. Shortly after releasing more music, I was recognized from radio stations across the Midwest. Now, I am making my way through the West and East coast.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Clutchbarz, an overall Pop/HipHop artist and business owner born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma. However, I have made my way to the west coast. My brand Network or Drown, is a platform for all entrepreneurs and artists to be able to shine and network across the globe. My music is for all, ranging from fun-loving vibes, to heart filled, witty, rap lyrics. I am an advocate for mental health and healthy, living. “Brown Skin”, a combination of my singer songwriter skills, rap intellect, and poetry, is one of my most known songs. Currently, we are doing numbers and changing lives with my latest project entitled “Fruits And Veggies” aka FAV. This album is a combination of the many styles I bring to the music. FAV includes Afro Pop, hip-hop, soft rock, and dancehall with an American twist for an uptempo experience. I was transitioning into a new lifestyle of cleaner eating that consisted of Fruits and vegetables and wanted the music to reflect the energy I felt during those times. Overall I create music not only for self, but for everyone across the globe to be able to relate, learn, vibe, grow, and have fun.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing real feedback and interaction with the music I create. Being the writer, artist, and performer is a lot of hard work. Seeing the positive energy that transpires from it brings me joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
For me, everything is about timing, even when it comes to having the knowledge or power of certain resources. I wouldn’t say I wish I knew about them earlier, but I will say I’m thankful for what I know now and the learning path I’m on currently to expand those opportunities, connections, and resources,
