Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Clinton Gorham. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Clinton, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I started designing way back in 2007, shortly after serving in the United States Marine Corps. I figured I’d do what everyone said was the “right” next step; go to college, get a good job, stay on a stable path. I picked up a part-time position at The School of Protocol, and that’s where I really started sharpening my creative skills. From there, I worked on various projects, did some freelance work, and kept my craft alive wherever I could.
But the truth is, I couldn’t give 100% to design in those early years. I had a family to care for, and living in Southern California wasn’t cheap. The financial pressure kept me from fully launching myself into the field I had gone to school for. My dreams had to share space with my responsibilities, and for a long time, responsibility won.
Then came 2016. I made the conscious decision… the terrifying, stomach-turning, heart-racing decision to leave a secure job in Law Enforcement and step out as a full-time Brand Consultant and Graphic/Web Designer. It was the scariest thing I have ever done. And that says a lot coming from someone who has been in war zones and experienced combat environments twice while serving in the military. But nothing… absolutely nothing… prepared me for the pressure, uncertainty, and emotional weight of becoming a full-time entrepreneur.
There were nights I cried myself to sleep from the stress. Nights when the questions were louder than my confidence. My peace, my rest, my comfort, my sanity. All of it had a price tag. And I paid every bit of it. But I also kept going.
And the success people see in 2025 didn’t just appear. It was built on sacrifice, endurance, faith, exhaustion, and the quiet determination to rise up every time life tried to fold me. I’m still here. And I’m grateful for every moment of the journey. Even the ones that broke me a little, because they led me to a place where I can live in my truth and walk in my purpose. And to me, purpose… that’s what it’s all about.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
