We were lucky to catch up with Clinton Cohen III recently and have shared our conversation below.
Clinton, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The inspiration for starting Upper Echelon Technologies came from my passion for technology, which began in 1992 when I was first introduced to a computer. Over the years, I noticed many business owners struggling to create an online presence that was visually appealing, reflected their vision, and effectively communicated with their clients. This gap inspired me to establish Upper Echelon Technologies to help these businesses succeed online.
A pivotal moment that solidified my passion for web design and development was working with a client who wanted to start an event planning business. During our discovery call, she passionately shared her vision but was frustrated after spending a year trying to build her website without success. Hearing her story and her challenges moved me deeply, and I felt a strong desire to help her. When we completed her project, her tears of joy and excitement upon seeing her new website left me feeling incredibly fulfilled. This experience underscored the profound impact my work could have on clients’ lives and businesses.
I see my work as empowering my clients to leverage the latest technological innovations without diverting their focus from their core business. Most of my clients are absolute professionals in their fields but find themselves technically challenged by the constant evolution of technology. By providing them with cutting-edge web solutions, I enable them to stay competitive and efficient.
Starting out, one of my biggest challenges was distinguishing myself in a crowded field of web designers. This challenge pushed me to build deeper relationships with my clients, gaining their trust and confidence not only to work with me but also to refer me to their colleagues. This emphasis on personal connection and trust has become a cornerstone of my mission.
My personal values are the foundation of my company mission. I believe in treating others as I would like to be treated, a principle that starts at home with my wife and kids and extends to how I interact with my clients. This value-driven approach ensures that Upper Echelon Technologies is not just a business, but a true extension of my commitment to integrity, excellence, and genuine care for the people I serve.
This mission is meaningful to me because it represents not just what we do, but who we are and how we make a difference in the lives of our clients every day.

Clinton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Clint. I’m a husband to a fantastic wife and a proud father of four wonderful boys. My journey into the web design industry began roughly 25 years ago, but it was about five years ago that I took the leap and started my own professional website design business.
At Upper Echelon Technologies, we offer a range of services designed to help our clients maximize their online potential. Our core services include website audits and consultation, design and development, performance optimization, end-user training, and comprehensive care plans.
The primary problem I solve for my clients is helping them leverage technology to build effective and engaging online presences, allowing them to focus on what they do best without getting bogged down by technical challenges. What truly sets me apart is my commitment to building deep, trusting relationships with my clients. I invest the time to understand their unique needs and goals, ensuring that I deliver exceptional, personalized results.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the long-term relationships I’ve built with my clients. They know that I will go above and beyond to ensure they receive more than they expected. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see the positive impact my work has on their businesses and lives.
I look forward to the opportunity to help you turn your vision into reality, creating a powerful online presence that drives success.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the belief that “more work equals more success.”
When I first started Upper Echelon Technologies, I thought success meant working long hours and taking on every project. I believed that the more I worked, the more successful I would be. This led to overcommitting and constant stress, which affected the quality of my work and my work-life balance.
A turning point came when a mentor advised me to focus on quality over quantity. I realized that success wasn’t about the volume of work but the value and impact of each project. By unlearning the “more work equals more success” mentality, I started prioritizing high-quality work and building strong, long-term relationships with my clients.
This shift not only improved my work quality but also allowed me to manage my time better and reduce stress. I learned that true success comes from working smarter, not harder, and investing in meaningful relationships with clients.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I believe in the power of personal connections to keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty. Regular communication is key for me, so I make it a point to check in with clients frequently through emails, calls, and even video chats. Beyond just staying in touch, I focus on building genuine relationships by really getting to know my clients.
Listening to my clients’ needs is crucial. I take the time to understand their challenges and goals deeply, making sure my services are tailored to meet their specific requirements. This personalized approach helps build strong, trusting relationships and shows my clients that I genuinely care about their success.
