Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Clifton McWilliams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Clifton thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my own, I’m extremely particular about everything that involves my creativity. The best way I know how to manage my compulsiveness is to manage things myself, maybe that will change in the future.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have always liked to do things that were creative, and I have always loved photography but I would just use whatever phone I had at the time. It was not until my good friend David purchased an actual digital camera that I started to look into photography more seriously, and eventually purchased a digital camera a couple years ago, and now I shoot both digital and film.
My passion is landscape photography, but I also offer lifestyle portraiture and brand work. I am always searching for spots or locations off the beaten path to give people who see my work new ideas of places to visit. I try and bring a very realistic approach to my photography, I am not big on photoshop or massive editing, I try and show places and their beauty just as they are as I see them, some places are crowded, some are empty and that’s ok, I want people to give an accurate representation of these places.
I love meeting people while out traveling or through social media, I am always looking to network and find new creative projects to work on.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Personally I am not a fan, I have researched them a lot and they just don’t appeal to me, I have to feelings about people who do create them or sell them, it’s just not something I plan on getting into.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When people comment or message me about how beautiful my photos are and how much they enjoy scrolling through my work, that’s what is the most rewarding for me, I started my photography journey to document my trips and the memories my family and friends create, I also want to inspire others in my community to travel more, it’s so much out there to see, if I can motivate just one person to travel, that’s a win for me.
