We were lucky to catch up with Cleodine Pierre recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cleodine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My story begins in Haiti, where I come from a humble family of passionately driven individuals. I used to enjoy spending time in the kitchen with my grandmother, watching her prepare some of the best dishes that would have everyone in the neighborhood wishing they could come over for dinner. When words fail, food has always been a passion, a symbol of love. As a chef, I bring a diverse culinary background that stems from my global travels, experiences, learnings, and discoveries. Currently placed among Central Florida’s top small business owners.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I founded my company in the midst of a pandemic and at a low point in my life. It wasn’t always easy, from the first day I had an anxiety attack to having to figure out how to wear multiple hats within my company to having to fund everything I needed out of my own pocket from my savings, and everything in between. Even when I wanted to, I never gave up and kept going. I am a believer, and I know that God did not bring me this far just for me to give the bare minimum.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Being afraid to seek help and support. As the oldest of six siblings, I’ve always had to take the lead and be everyone’s problem solver. That same behavior had evolved into being a perfectionist as an adult. That is to say, I wanted everything to be PERFECT. The endless nights spent overthinking simple decisions made it difficult for me to complete certain tasks.
