Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to CLEÖCRT . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, CLEÖCRT thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time, I do believe I would have taken full advantage of my daddy being alive and started my career earlier so that he could see what it was that I am so passionate about.
We would have been the ultimate daddy daughter duo. He was so supportive of me then I can only imagine the heights we’d have achieved together. The encouragement, wisdom and advice he would have to offer me.
Even in his physical absence I am still very confident in what is inside me, confident enough to know that no matter when I started, as long as I have started I would always attain my dreams. Though I do understand that even in his passing he is guiding me through my endeavors. Still, it would have been nice to hold his hand through it all.

CLEÖCRT , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Since I was a child I’ve always know that singing was how I wanted to reach the world. I sang in choirs joined in bands and did all I could to become apart of a community musically intune, itching to get close to the microphone. Now that I am older and have finally overcome my stage fright, it’s nearly impossible to pull me away from the stage once I hit it.
Singing is the language I like to create in but I thoroughly enjoy all elements of performance art. From the theatrics, dance, the attitude, and the glamour. It excites me.
I take inspiration from artist like Prince, Outkast, Queen, Jill Scott, Ms Jackson – cause I’m nasty – and Manhattan Transfer .
I think these artist embody their craft and show their love for it with ever note they hum, rap or jive.
Like Prince I like to create mixed media, dance with various genres, and experiment.
In my music you’ll find Jazz Cuts, Blues, Pop, Rock and Country Infusions as well as Rnb/Neo Soul. A little bit of everything but a constant will be that I always pour a bit of my soul within each creation. Listening to me sing is getting to know me.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
KILL THE ALGORITHM. And let ARTist live.
Too often I’ve noticed that artist lose a bit of themselves to the algorithm demon. Trying to find the sweet spot to post so that their work can be seen -never finding it- and when they do get seen from a viral moment they have to follow a recipe or some kind of inconceivable formula to go viral again which comes around infrequently and in the utmost scarcity.
These artist then begin to doubt themselves and wonder if their work is good enough.
I myself was once a victim of this and still find myself in a tug of war with the Algorithm Monster. This is just one of the many things society can do to create a safe and thriving economy for art(ist).

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is when I get to witness my craft reach another being.
Nothing is sweeter than hearing someone quote my lyrics and express how much those lyrics resonated with them, or encouraged them in a dark time, made them feel better, smarter, sexier even.
Knowing my art has the potential to be life changing to someone encourages me to continue.
