We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cleo Hall-Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cleo below.
Cleo , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission is to simply use the gift God gave me to inspire the women in my chair. I know this is my purpose and it’s deeper than hair! I take what i do seriously because I transform lives! A beautiful hairstyle can change your whole mood and give you confidence like never before! That’s magical!!

Cleo , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started in this industry at the age of 12. I styled everyone in my neighborhood and charged $5 to curl their hair! I went to beauty school and got licensed 24 years ago. I specialize in Short hair, silk presses, and color. I opened my salon The Glam Experience in January of 2017. It was a huge step that was very scary, but im so glad I did. My clients love The Glam Experience because it’s a friendly, peaceful environment with talented professionals. It’s a place where you can leave your problems at the door. I’m so proud to have a space where clients can unwind and have a great time. I also run an organization called Kut of Kindness where we bless someone in the beauty industry once a month with lunch on us. Just a way to say we support them and love what they bring to the industry. Early 2023 I will be launching my TShirt business Tees So Glam!! Be on the lookout!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Consistency and great customer service is the key to growing your clientele. Clients want a stylist they can depend on! I hear stories in my salon daily how stylists are not keeping their word, canceling without explanation, not shampooing before service, and over booking. I believe the stylist you are behind the chair will determine who sits in your chair! Be on time, be pleasant, and respond when clients reach out! Lastly, stay current on trends! Take classes because they help you grow! You can’t grow if you are not willing to learn from others!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I opened my salon with my own personal money! No loans, I committed to buying something each week for my salon for a year and a half. During that year and a half, I didn’t shop nor travel!! No going out to eat or anything because I had a dream and I was focused!!I had no idea where my salon would be, but I knew how many stations I would need, shampoo bowls etc. I’ve learned so far that was not a wise choice lol but it worked for me at the time! Now I know the importance of business credit!
