We recently connected with Cleiri Quezada and have shared our conversation below.
Cleiri, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always been aware of my passion for music and singing, but I knew I wanted to pursue a career in it when I learned more about the music business. There’s more to it than just getting on stage and I find the business end also very interesting. I would love to have my own label one day to help other young artists grow. Of course , right now I’m focused on my own journey.
Cleiri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am singer and songwriter hailing from the vibrant Rio Grande Valley and my music is making waves in Texas. My unique sound combines the passion of Spanish ballads, the soothing sultriness of mariachi that pays homage to my roots in Jalisco.
I am currently crafting my debut studio album under the banner of CHR Records. My music speaks volumes, reflecting my love, soul, and life experiences. Each note tells a story, inviting listeners to immerse my world
My previous work has already left a lasting impression. My track “La Distancia” has found a home on syndicated Tejano radio stations across the nation. “Besos De Miel” and “Ilusiones,” produced by Grammy-Award Winning Music Producer Alex Espinoza, known as ACE1, showcase my songwriting prowess and were featured in the Mexican film “Rooster.”
My most recent single “Estoy Pensando En Ti” is charting on Tejano Radio stations and I have been recently nominated for “Best New Female Artist” at the Guadalupe Awards in San Antonio, TX.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Making music is my way of expressing how I feel. Sometimes it’s difficult telling people how you feel through conversation, but music makes connecting so much easier and poetic. It’s such a beautiful feeling when I look into the crowds and see people responding to what I’m singing.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
To ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives, society should implement policies that provide funding, grants, and tax incentives for artists and creative projects. They can promote arts education and make it accessible to all.
Create and maintain cultural spaces, galleries, and venues for artists to showcase their work.
Strengthen copyright protection to safeguard the rights of artists and their creations.
Encourage collaboration between artists, and businesses.
Promote diversity and inclusion in the arts to ensure all voices are heard.
Encourage public engagement and appreciation for the arts through exhibitions, performances, and public art installations.
Establish mechanisms like universal basic income or affordable healthcare to provide financial stability to artists.
Develop networks and mentorship programs to help artists connect and grow in their careers.
Incorporate art and creativity into various aspects of society, from urban planning to technology development.
