Cleavon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

The best thing my parents did for me, was teaching me to be an independent thinker and problem solver. That’s what creativity is! It’s solving life’s problems by creating something that doesn’t presently exist. But, solving problems can be difficult and that is why critical thinking is so important. A lot of people do not take the time to think deeply because we live in a hurried society, but it is one of the best things that you can do for yourself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi! I’m Cleavon Davis aka Clee The Visionary. I am the founder/CVO of Build Your Vision LLC, a media & coaching company that trains impact-focused visionaries in self-leadership and content creation.

My mission is to rebuild the “Vision Economy”. A balanced supply and demand ecosystem in which each individual’s accomplished vision is the platform for another vision to be actualized.

I believe there is a broken link in the supply chain, leaving the world with many dreamers but few visionaries, and I want to partner with as many people as possible to fix it.

Build Your Vision’s goal is to rebuild the Vision Economy by equipping 100 million visionaries with the tools they need to eradicate internal confusion from their lives. The biggest obstacle most people face in life is not their intelligence, their finances, their education, or their location, it’s a lack of clarity. They simply don’t know who they are supposed to be and what they are supposed to do with the life they have.

We are living in an epidemic of existential confusion. But just imagine what the world could look like if an entire generation were clear on the vision they have for their lives. What art, businesses, services, and leaders would emerge? The world would be brighter.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

We live in a tech-driven world of information overload and it can become overwhelming. The overarching goal of everything I do is to be an example. The world doesn’t need more information, it needs more examples. This is especially true when it comes to faith. The creator economy has increased the amount of examples we have in the world, but some of those examples feed people lies about life. I want my example to be based on the truth and light. Everything I create stems from that truth, the truth of God and his Word. Light cannot be hidden, no matter how dark the world gets.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

The book “A Million Miles in A Thousand Years” by Donald Miller, significantly impacted how I view life. I don’t know if the book was meant to do that because it’s not a personal growth book, it’s more of a memoir. Because of that book, I now view my life as a TV show. My life has an overarching premise, mission, and vision. I am the main character and each day is an episode that builds toward the plot of the show. It’s changed my productivity, paradigm, and my overall view of the world.
