We were lucky to catch up with Clayton Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Clayton thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I was essentially raised in a Veterinarain clinic. Being socialized with people and animals from the time I was 2 years old allowed me to become aware of how beautiful communication can be when you take the time to understand the person (and the animal). We all communicate differently. I learned initially to hear the audience and speak, communicate, and interact, accordingly. This led to sales, marketing, business development, and beyond.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up in a small town of 1,100 people where my parents started their integrative veterinary practice from nothing. From the time I was an infant I was in the clinic daily. This foundation led to a major focus in health and performance in humans and animals laying the foundation and pathway for my entire future. My first 25 years was built on the understanding of diet, lifestyle, and exercise. My last 20 years has focused on environmental toxicology and how the formula and solution to our ascension and performance is simply equating to adding and taking away from; meaning a plus, minus equation (+/-). Building on this concept, my wife (Christina Rahm, PhD) and I launched The ROOT Brands® in 2020, applying her background in bioscience engineering and my sales and marketing background to create an algorithmic fintech system to develop the global marketing tool to distribute her creations. This collaboration has now grown to more than 80 countries doing over $160 million in sales in 5 years. Being able to address the cause of health issues and watching “health challenges” of hundreds of thousands of consumers, while changing financial lives simultaneously, is my favorite part of this process. What sets us apart are the outcomes from the creations of Dr. Rahm and her holistic, science-based formulations, we have witnessed unbelievable outcomes with our customer base.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Absolutely. I would have changed a few decisions but knowing what I was made to do is the foundation in what we do.
How’d you meet your business partner?
The origin story: I was introduced to Christina Rahm on a phone call by John Salley (NBA Legend) when I heard her say hello I had the second time in my life that God tapped me on the shoulder and affirmed that my path was to be fulfilled by supporting her creative path. I was in Seattle, she was in Nashville. After a few phone calls and one meeting in person, I moved from Seattle to Nashville to follow that divine guidance. It has been a unique journey since. She had me at hello.
