We recently connected with Clay Stafford and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Clay, thanks for joining us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I personally handle all of my own social media in terms of content. I do have help in the actual posting (saves me about 15 minutes a day), but all posts are approved by me and written by me. I think it’s important for the entrepreneur to be involved. Knowing the needs and expectations of your clients is paramount. To me, only the entrepreneur has the vision to be able to do that in a unified way, not an outside marketing firm. Social media, like everything, should reflect the central vision of the single leader whom the clients know and trust.
Clay, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been involved in the entertainment and publishing industry my whole life, earning income both as a kid actor and a short story writer at an early age. I’ve always been interested in stories, which in my life has taken multiple forms as you can see if you visit my website https://claystafford.com/. My life revolves around telling stories and helping others to tell their stories. From my production company American Blackguard Entertainment https://www.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a writer and creative person, you have to learn to accept rejection. Not everyone needs what you have to offer. Not all the you offer is ready for public consumption. Learning your craft has to become more important to you than sales stats. It’s all about personal growth. With personal growth, the other things will come. I started with nothing and now have sold over 4 million books in 16 languages. If you believe in yourself and keep striving to get better, good will rise.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal and mission, and the goal and mission of everything I do, is to truly try and make the world a better and more understanding place. Unity is so much more powerful than personal agenda. We need to learn to understand, compromise, and show grace. That’s the key, not only to happiness, but also to success.
