We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Claudia Washington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Claudia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Would you say you are more focused on growing revenue or cutting costs? We’d love to hear how you think about these two critical drivers
“Should I cut cost, or focus on increasing sales? How do I choose, and which will work best for me?” These questions are in the life of every small business owner and are our greatest challenge in maintaining a healthy business.
My approach for long-term prosperity is to focus on quality and branding as the means to increasing revenue and solidifying a growing customer base.



Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my business, Beaded Soul, in the beginning of 2021. I always had creative hobbies and interests, but beading was always my favorite craft. Having a large collections of beads, semi-precious stones and crystals, I started making bracelets for friends and family members. The vast positive reaction and feedback I received for the quality of my work was all the motivation I needed to take the next step forward and transform this little hobby of mine into something more. My collection of work includes stacks, sets, tiger eye, aromatherapy bracelets, zodiac, faith, yoga bracelets, and so many more. I currently accept custom orders, as I also repair and redesign customer’s vintage pieces they want to bring a new life into.


Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of reaching new clients is my local farmer market. As a regular vendor, I have the constant opportunity to build genuine and personal relationships with my community members. Some of these bonds expand beyond business and have turned into cherished friendships.

If you ask any successful person, whether in business or politics, you will hear over and over again, “It’s all about relationships”. Having special connection with my clients, I design many items with their interests in mind. To stay connected, I often extend a direct line of communication, either by phone or in person.
