We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Claudia Mulet a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Claudia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think “successful” it’s just a word. It’s a concept created to define a state of mind, a stimulus to keep working. For many people to be successful is to have a lot of money, or to have the best car or the biggest home. But I think success has to be different for each person. To me you are successful when you can choose your destiny, when you receive the reward after a lot of work. When you are doing what you love. Is that day you wake up feeling the joy of your journey and the commitment you made to your craft, and its paying back to you. Thats when success starts.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
A little-bit about myself. Im from Cuba, born and raised. I graduated from College with a bachelor in performing arts from the Institute of Arts of Havana. I moved to the United States in 2016 to join the First National Tour of On Your Feet, the story of Emilio y Gloria Estefan and after that I’ve been performing and sharing my story with as many people as I can. I love performing and as part of my craft as an artist, Ive also integrated painting to my art. My mom is a very well know artist in Cuba and from her I learned everything I know. I grew up seeing her painting and eventually I started helping her to stretch the canvas and managing the endeavors of the art world. I found that trough painting I can reach a part of my conciseness that acting can’t. Thats why I think both connect so well. As an actress I go to the room and I create a character that responds to the play and the director and team, but with my paintings I can speak as loud as I want and express my deepest feelings. And the best part is that the audience can interpret it in a complete different way.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I actually started hearing about NFTs about 2 years ago and immediately caught my attention. As an NFT creator myself I can see the immense umbrella of opportunities that the crypto world is opening to us. Form the possibility of collecting art, books, music to the secure way of tracking your NFT history, the safe way to track your transactions. We don’t really understand or even know how far it can go. This is just the beginning, but the more we open ourselves to new possibilities the fastest we can adapt to the new era.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My art focuses in a search for understanding in the human as an entity. The understanding that we live surrounded by other people and nature and that we need to be more humble and forgiven to the other. As a society we are very selfish and I think that is why we lac on compassion. By looking up and seeing a whole new universe of things that we can’t really understand or even know about, I think we can, maybe, create the awareness and the interest to take care of ourselves and the Earth. It doesn’t matter where we come from or the color of our skin, what matters is that we understand and respect each other.
