We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Claudia Echeverria. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Claudia below.
Claudia, appreciate you joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
This is actually a work in Progress, with that said, I was a full time artist for 7 years, living off selling my original art pieces.
All of this recently changed when in summer of 2022 I had no other choice than to find a job. I was drained emotionally and cerativelly of so much finantial stress, New York had been a bold move from my save networked eviroment of over 20 years in Miami, I had a steady rising career as an emerging artist, but in the middle of the Pandemic, among the confusion, the sudden change as an empty nested mother, an openning opportunity to move into the city, I didnt think twice, I gave everything away, packed a couple of bags and moved to Nyc.
It was beatiful, it was exciting, new, challenging and was about to change everythingI thought I knew about my self.
I”m currently using the stability and structure of a full time job, to keep painting< while developing a merchandise line that will give me the pasive income to get back to a full time artist career

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello my name is Claudia Echeverria, Known as CLoD in the art world. I started painting after leaving a corporate career in TV production, and a yearlong trip around the world by my self. I have been expresing in Acrylic and oil sticks on Canvas, Gaffer tape instalations in urban areas, digital art and print reproductions of my work that I sell mostly on my online platform @ clodclod.com. Most recently I’m exploring merchandising my creations in fun everyday items like bags, stickers and really cool coffee mugs to take with you anywhere.
I work from my heart. everything I do comes from an autherntic place of wonder, curiosity of people, what moves us? what creates a real connection? I enjoy my work in ways that not other discipline fulfills as deeply and completely.
I hope you get to experience my craft IRL, meanwhile please check my instagram! @CLoDnyc . I ussually share some of my daily inspo, process and a window inro my life.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I get to do what I love! To express my unique voice which is always perfect beause there’s only one, and that”s what makes it special. The truer and honest I am to myself, the better the resulting art piece, so it’s a journey of self awareness; a deep dive into all of my fears and self judgement, until I get to trully believe in my work, this only makes me a better, happier human beign, all while creating beatiful pieces to keep telling our stories: it’s a win-win for all

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think artist are great humans in general because they dare to look deeper as part of their work process. This is not the case to the general public, but it is a singular trait about those who choose a creative field in arts. Since there is no right or wrong way of creating, your creation is your mirror, you are continously faced with the question: “Am I good enough?” and that alone is a whole other ball game of self love, trust and self expansion. Art is not a mechanical thing, and is not even about the resulting art piece. You become an artist as a result of the process of creating art. It is complex and different for everybody, and the best artist may not be the ones with the amazing pieces, althought usually that inner work results in amazing creation where technique, mind and soul merge toguether
